Twin Door Wiring Issues - New Problems

Featured Replies

Please can someone check for me whether both rear lights flash when opening the boot section using key fob on a 2009 diesel Elegence, or does one (nearside) flash? The lights work normally otherwise. I think this may be a symptom of further wiring issues as the internal boot lights flicker and go off when fully it is open and the fog light causing the boot to open issue has returned. Last time this happened I stripped the rear hatch following directions found in this forum but could not find any wire damage, however fiddling with them seemed to temporarily cure the problem. Any other suggestions anyone???

They do on my 2014 superb. Also flash when I close the boot lid as well,

Both lights flash me as well.

All indicators flash when i open the boot via the keyfob.... It's the alarm diactivating when the boot opens then reactivating when the boot closes. All my VAG cars have done this over the years.

Same here...

As above, all indicators flash when deactivating the alarm...

High level brake light flashes when I open the tailgate rather than just the boot lid section.

Sorry bit late in saying thank you!

It is the nearside fog light that flashes when opening the boot either with the key fob or manually so I will check wiring to fogs and boot latch and hopefully find a short. Does anyone have any idea where the wiring from boot section links to hatch section?

Update, decent dry warm weather today so stripped nearside trim, released 4 connectors from under boot lid and pulled wiring through. Removed the sticky "protective" covering to either side of the bend in the loom where it exits the boot into the hatch part to find 2 wires broken and four others cracked in several places. This explains strange fog light behavior, not happy as replacing the damaged sections and soldering will not be a long term repair. Managed to replace the trim but the added bulk in the repair area made it a tight squeeze which is also does not bode well for the future. Good news is that I did not need to disconnect twin door mechanism as there was sufficient play in the cable to pull it clear of the hinge bend.

I have some pictures that I can e-mail as have not worked out how to include here.
