I think the customer take up on the E-UP has been a bit below VW's expectation.

Drive the Deal quote a 32.5% saving.

Yet after the £5k grant which everyone gets VW claim on the website you can get an E-UP for £19,270.

It seems VW have slashed the prices in an attempt to sell some.

Yorkshire men are well known for being tight.

Who'd have thought thirty years ago we'd all be sittin' here talking about electric cars, eh? In them days we was glad to have the price of a cup o' tea.

Derbyshire version "Ey-Up-Me-Duck"............that means hello!

It's rather a lot for a VW badged Citigo.

could it be something to do with the stupid price VW wanted for the E-UP!

I had a very short test drive in a VW E-Up at the gadget show live.

It was actually pretty nice. Super quiet (of course), nice equipment level and it actually went really well!

My only concern would be the range but I guess if it works for you then cool.

The problem with it has always been that it's Nissan LEAF money.

But smaller and less practical.

At £16k they start to make a bit more sense.

still too expensive.

I have however enetered the spot the ball competition to win an 85KW Tesla :) after I came back from WSM and saw electric charging points randomly at the 2 places we stopped, I realised, with 300 miles range, its a really useable car...

ever been tempted by a tesla Richard?! ;)

Charging points are everywhere now, even out here in the sticks.

it really suprised me! to find them at the services we "randomly" stopped at means its really a possible type of car now..... there was one of the new mitubishi's (SUV)  parked in one of them charging up.

Out here nobody knows what they are, the local one either always has a Leaf in it or a Diesel Golf

still too expensive.

I had a deposit down 12 months before the first car arrived.  I was number 75 in the queue.

Then I test drove it, realised it was going to be £90k in the spec I wanted with a cheap interior and gave up on the idea.

Waiting for Tesla's BMW 3 series rival due in two years.

The Model S is 2.2m wide.

It's noticably wider than my A8.

No good for daily use where you might need to fit in a space... in the UK anyway.

I'm hoping the A8 is the last daily family/work car I buy that's not an EV.

LEAF with optional longer range due next year too.

Things are heading the right way...

the new smaller cheaper one should in theory be epic, if it has range and performs like the bigger one, at a much reduced price.... interested to see the tests when it arrives! they have built a new battery factory in the desert in america thats covered in solar panels! :)

I don't suppose you can tow with an EV yet can you?

Yes, it's a big investment but should bring battery costs down in future.

No, not seen a single one rated to pull a trailer.

No, not seen a single one rated to pull a trailer.

That'll be a major step and even closer to a point of daily use.

Isn't it more a case of G-Up rather than E-Up ? Not that I've driven one so could be completely wrong...

Just had a look on an electric car forum and the Outlander PHEV can.

The DRL's are nice on it, that's it really, a guy on the Up! forums created DRL's just like them, never have been fond of where the drl's are on the models, one day I'd like to invest in possibly having fog DRL's, also a electric citigo/up/mii? What a foolish idea, I'd rather listen the citigo's throaty little engine than a buzzy motor

I was talking BEVs.

I was talking BEVs.

I realised after I'd posted that the Outlander is a hybrid rather than fully electric isn't it?

yes, hybrid, thats the one I saw plugged in, only about 40 miles electric (reduced performance) range....
