If all my lights are working correctly?? 1bd3df874496495c33fa43b316c81095.jpg

The orange light not the green loo

If you have let's fitted it will put that light on if your a bit quick starting the car and putting your lights on I normally get it when stopping at the petrol station and I leave the lights on

You had a Fuse out and your rear lights not working,

so have you been changing bulbs, or doing electrical work.

are the number plate bulbs working,  page 28 owners manual. 'bulb failure'.

Brake lights, etc etc ?

I always have this on because I have HID's fitted and LED rear number plate lights. I always check them and they are all working so I ignore it lol. I get it more with the cold weather. Not had it once in the summer.

You can get error free ones you know..

HID's shouldn't put the error light on because it's still making a circuit, mine didn't anyways.

Number plate bulbs shouldn't trigger the error as they don't flow enough current.

Some hid kits will cause error messages.

You need the 'canbus error free' ones

Same with led numberplate lights.

It's the number plate LEDs that sets it off. I just had some lying round from ages ago and just never ordered any canbus ones lol. Just got use to it coming on when the weather gets colder lol

My son gets this with his Golf, it's almost always to do with number plate lights. Sometimes opening and closing the boot seems to put the light back off again, and it's best described as intermittent.

I removed the bulbs and put the same ones back as they were fine, yes number plate lights all working, (run off same fuse as rear lights/side lights).  Never came on this morning, so far so good.  Also got standard number plate lights.

The front DRL /Side light unit is prone to a bad connection due to damp.

Maybe give them a clean up

& then some 'White Grease', Motor Bike Dry Chain dressing or Silicone Spray protection on the exterior where you think

water might get at the connection pre winter.

Yeah if I get chance this weekend i'll whip them out and give them a clean.

Many thanks @goneoffSKi

Hi Nath, I had the same issue for ages until I discovered what it was. On inspection it appeared like all my lights were working perfectly but I eventually found that one of the rear sidelight bulbs had a poor connection. As there are 2 bulbs per rear cluster it can be hard to spot, try giving the rear units a good smack with your hand to see if a bulb comes back on.

Once you know where it is its pretty easy to spot.

Interesting. I have been getting this on my 4yo vrs. It only appeared on the hottest of days just recently. All lights working. I can imagine that a dodgy connection (open CCT) was somehow made worse by expansion.

It's not come on since posting this thread, and that was after I put a new fuse in.  So everything seems to have sorted it'self out and strangley enough the interior LED map lights have got brighter since fitting a new fuse. :D
