Octavia VRS brake set up

Featured Replies

I have recently got my Octavia 312mm and 256mm set up back from the painters. They will be going on early next year when I put the spider alloys, ap coilovers and anti roll bar on.  At the minute i'm looking for some advice on which brake discs and pads to go for, i've seen a couple with mintex pads however these have very mixed reviews. EBC ultimax seem to have good reviews and seen this set up:

The car will more than likely not be going on track so just wondered is this decent value for money?

Thanks

Jamie

Just buy standard Pagid items from ECP... More than capable as long as you're not tracking it or ... If you kill the car everywhere you might want to look at uprated pads but stick with standard discs.

I'm with Kiddy

Yeah just get the plain Pagid discs. I thought the Pagid pads were good aswell. I now run DS2500 pads and they are very good, but they do sqeal a bit at low speeds.

EBC Utimax are tosh on the S2000. Brake Fade happened so soon and that was just fast-road.

I'm now on my second set of EBC Yellows on the S2 and they're fantastic, I've never had them fade and I do push em hard. Whats more, the S2 is heavy on its brakes so the Yellows have impressed - good for a few Track Days too.

I also run MTEC discs with the Zinc Coating to prevent rust on the non-bracking surfaces. Grooved only to avoid any cracking issues from drilled/pimpled discs - they pair up with the Yellows really well.

Have a look here: http://www.mtecbrakes.com/brake-discs/skoda/fabia-00-07/fabia-1-9-tdi-vrs-130bhp-asz-blt-engine-07-03-12-07.html

Depends what you wana do with the car and your budget though, of course.
