Heat in cabin question

Featured Replies

Hi,

Have a 2004 standard VRS, I've noticed I sometimes get engine heat (I assume) coming through the heating blowers (when climatronic is off), just wanting to check if this is normal?, or something to look into.

Thanks

I think this is normal as the internal flaps don't revert to a closed position when off (or at least I guess that is what happens).  I don't often turn mine off though, pretty much always fan speed 1 to air to feet & windscreen.

No, not normal and could be a failed servo motor in the climatronic unit that is not closing off the hot air.

Do a climatronic diagnostic test

Pressing the two extreme buttons (recirc and econ) before turning the key puts the unit into self diagnose mode (and it says it on the screen). The climatronic system seems to cycle all the flaps, fan speeds and moving parts before displaying a code. On my case is was 444 followed by 00 which means no fault.

The codes are in hexadecimal. Convert them to decimal and you can find the result on the Ross Tek ? site.

Thanks, did the test, nifty tool!, and displayed 4FA 00, so no faults thankfully!

Thanks, that would explain it.

4fa is a recirc flap motor error

4fa is a recirc flap motor error

really!, thanks for that, i thought the 00 was no errors, would that be a replacement part needed?

Thanks

C'mon guys,is very normal, has nothing to do with recirc motor....The vents can be hermetically closed for a reason

You can replace the motor. Mine has the same fault, if your windows are steaming up it could be stuck in recirc mode. I manually moved the flap so its not. Nothing to do with your other question but a tip :)

Mine brings up 4f7 for the recirc flap stuck open which is fine for me. However i do get engine heat coming thru.

Thanks for the info, the windows do steam up alot, how do I go about moving the flap, or were is it located, sorry if a daft question.

Glovebox out, heater motor out and look up to where the pollen filter is, shine up with a torch. If you can see the filter its stuck open, if not its stuck closed and can be moved manually. Its quite an easy job, 15 mins tops
