Have any of you has install a Turbo Timer in his Skoda Ovtavia 1.8T ?

I already receive my Greaddy Turbo Timer and I am planing to install it this next saturday.

Any recomendation???

I think you will need to go to www.20VTurbo.com for advice. I searched that site for turbo timer and got 148 hits, including the following link which is for wiring a US-Spec 2000 VW GTi and new Beetle 1.8T:

I guess you live somewhere hot because I don't recall any interest in turbo timers in the UK.

Yes, I live in Panama Republic of Panama Central America.

Well, I know how to install it because I have do it before in my EX Mitsubishi Eclipse. But my only concern is about the Skoda Factory Alarm.

I looked at a turbo timer for mine, however, in the UK at least, some insurance companies get a bit funny about you wiring them in especially if they have specified a CAT 1 alarm/immobiliser system.

I now use a manual timer. Get to my destination, light a fag. When its gone its safe to turn off :mrgreen: For anyone using this method, remember to take the revs to 1500 a few times (helps the oil circulate, remeber you have very little oil pressure at idle) to assist with cooling

Would this start causing errors on the CAN BUS line, I don't know much about it but I asking the dealer before about a cut-off switch but he would install one as he told me that it would cause an error every time you flicked the switch.

I use my watch to time 2 minutes - I find this cheaper and far healthier than using a cigarette for the same purpose! :D

I like the tip about increasing idling RPM a couple of times and will use that in future. As for my wife, I consider myself lucky if she remembers to leave the engine idling.

I'm glad this issue was raised - I remember back in the late 80's it used to be a real issue to leave the car idling for a few minutes after reaching your destination, but seems to have all but become obsolete....

I asked my dealer if this was required and although it wasn't official (ie not in any literature that I've seen) he said after a long hard run it was advisable.

Is it still neccessary for a standard tune vRS or is it erring on the side of caution?

IMHO there is nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution, I do it even if I've only just popped down the shops,usually whilst I remove the face from the stereo. I guess its just a habit, must confees to feeling like a plonker after driving my stepson's Punto. Went for a blat, got back and sat there letting it idle. He asked why, I was about to explain then realised its a 1.2 SPI engine, no turbo :roll: Muppet! :mrgreen:

The Owner's Manual does advise allowing the engine to run at idling speed for about 2 minutes before switching off to avoid any build-up of heat after operating it for a lengthy period at high engine loads - and that advice applies to all engine variants.
