Internal Electrics - Octavia II

Featured Replies

My 2011 1.8 TSI Octavia Scout has developed a problem with the internal electrics.

I first lost all internal lights (front, rear and boot) and then noticed the little button on the B pillar which switches off the motion sensor is also in darknes (I've not yet remote locked myself in and waited 30 secs before dancing like a loon to see if the alarm is dead or not but it's on the cards...). I checked fuses (in engine bay) but no sign of anything blown.

Does this ring any bells for anyone? Previous threads? Known faults?

Could it be something I could investigate/fix/replace myself?

Thanks.

get a scan done first

Thanks. I guess that's when I take it to the garage and they hook it up to a computer?

It has been in the garage recently and they gave me a print out of a "Vehicle Health Check". Does that come from the same scan or is it separate.

The health check (copyright Pinewood Technologies in the small print) shows a green light for interior lights!! Despite there being no interior lights working!!

Not Working:

Interior lights front & back,

Footwell lights,

Boot lights,

12V "lighter" socket (in centre console),

Alarm motion sensor off switch in B-Pillar (switch is still functional), (yes, I locked myself in and jumped around), (in the carpark, at work).

Working Fine:

Puddle Lights (If these are the ones under the wing mirrors),

12V socket in boot.

Does this collection of non-working items not point to a particular fuse or controller for anyone?

If there is anything I could try before heading to the garage it would be a massive help...

Thanks Again.

As I said above, get a scan done with vcds (look in the vcds section for someone near you)

A lot of the electrics in the car don't have fuses but are controlled by modules, so a scan would help

The interior lights and boot with cig lighter are all controlled by a fuse that is next to to steering wheel, open the door pop off the plastic cover and check the fuses I cannot remember exact fuse

Awesome....!! Thats what I needed.

Found internal (dash) fuse panel and found fuse 15 as per DanialA11.

It was blown. It is replaced. It is good.

Many thanks DanialA11.

Thanks also to darius, VCD owner who was going to help out if that had been neccessary.

The feeling you get when you find out it was just a fuse

Glad I could help

What size fuse, currently my MK2 VRS has a 5 amp fuse = light brown which has blown but I see from this diagram linked that maybe it should be 7.5 = dark brown?

BUT this diagram is not the same as my car? For example 46 is heated seats in mine, which I dont have - but there is a 5 amp fuse in it? While this diagram says its 'Heated windscreen washer nozzle'????
