Greenline remap or chip etc

Featured Replies

I have a greenline estate and I fancy going down the remap route. Any advice or companies to recommend? Please let me know. I don't seem to be able to find the desired information too easily.

Thanks

speak to dark side developments they are diesel tunning experts they will help and advise you they are in barnsley yorks I travelled from Liverpool and wasn't dissapionted they also have a rolling road and will give you good advice

Celtic Tuning.

I've had 5 cars mapped, (Golf TDI 130, Golf TDI 150, Freelander 2.0TD4, Audi A4 2.0TDI, Mondeo 2.2TDCI) and can thoroughly recommend them.

Kinda depends what is most important to you with remaps, all out power, in-gear torque or even an untracable option ?

If that greenline is a company car, the untracable tuningbox with a pedalbox maybe best for you.

Are pedal boxes any good?

Do bears drop do do's in the woods ? You're pretty close to Andy, drop in and give one a go, the one I tried transformed the throttle pedal which I found a little laggy and hesitant previously.

Thanks all for the great feedback. It's my own car, I'm really not sure where to go with it. I'm looking for more power and torque, would this necessarily lead to worse fuel economy?

Cheers

I don't know about the bears, though I would think they possible do.

Shark Performance Stage1 map, 105-149bhp, 260-310Nm and the only impact on mpg is when you're using all that extra power, drive it normally and you'll see a slight increase in fuel efficiency, no brainer.

If you don't want to open up the ECU then my almost new CRDT+ tuning box from DTUK is for sale, £439 new but I'm only looking for £250, grab a bargain, its in the for sale section.

Sounds like a good buy. Easy to fit and remove?

There's 2 connectors you have to unplug and plug the box's loom into. The one on the common rail is under the top cover on the left and takes seconds to do. The other is on the boost pressure sensor which is at the front of the engine. I've read that on the mk2 tdi vRS it was a bit fiddly as its quite low down though not that difficult to do, but on the mk3 its been moved a lot higher up so is easier to get to so suggest you ask the person selling it how easy it is to do on the greenline. There's a blanking plug that comes with them so you can bypass the box without having to remove the loom if you want to.

Yep, only reason i went for the map is to take things further, intercooler, turbo upgrades etc. I was really impressed with it, only unit to have face mounted controls to allow easy adjustment.

Depends on how you drive it afterwards. It will use more fuel to deliver the extra power, you don't get something for nothing. However in delivering that extra power you end up accerarating faster which is the time its more inefficient so you get to your desired speed quicker and the extra torque helps with driveability too. So if you drive symathetically you'll get more mpg, drive it to enjoy the extra and it'll use probably about the same. Don't forget it'll make your maxidot more inaccurate because it doesn't know the box is fitted so the only way to tell for sure is doing brim to brim calculations.

I keep an excel sheet with all my mpg's on.  You cannot tell when the car was chipped from the graph.

Same mpg before and after - but you do use the extra power so it must be more economical.  You don't rag it everywhere but do you use the extra oomph daily so no downsides relating to economy.

Mine is a Greenline 3 BTW!

If i've not already mentioned it (though it does say so in my profile, doh).

I did see that you have a GL, but I would have thought the same principles will apply whatever engine has a tuning box fitted or standard remap done, so hopefully our experiences will help.
