plastic wings

Featured Replies

When fitting mudflaps today noticed rapid has plastic front wings just like renault clio we had

Very common now on modern cars. Entire Peugeot/Citroen range has had plastic wings for years now (it's good - cheap and easy to replace when you scuff one).

Weight, better mpg (and lower emissions) but also cost - often a plastic wing is cheaper than a sheet metal one to make as it can be injection moulded to a consistent shape & curve = less rejected due to exceeding panel fit tolerances.

I thought this thread was about the Boeing Dreamliner.  Those plastic wings are far too bendy!!  At 40000 feet they curve up so high it did not look right at all

Looks across at the wife and I'm thinking of getting her in plastic...........

BMW X5 has plastic front wings.

Well I am sorry lads but the wings ARE made of steel but have a plastic liner, well mine are ! The plastic bumper comes round and that's about it on mine, I went out today with a magnet and it stuck firmly on both front wings, I suppose they have to be metal as it forms part of the crumple zone. Cheers - Stuart

Do you have a Plastic Magnet?

No and I don't have plastic wings either  :D
