i just filled it until it clicks. i dont try and stuff her to much.

i put 41 litres in, when i re-filled the other night night to work out the mpg it took 20.2 litres again so i divided that into gallons and then the milage by the gallons.

Dont see why you cant get that sort of mpg on a good run (especially a long clear M-way) I got 44mpg out of my octy vrs (boring though) and am getting over 55mpg on my (still very new and tight ) Superb pd130

all this talk of flaps, filling holes and not trying to stuff her to much has got me needing a cold shower lmao

if VW couldn't get that figure from a lupo tdi that was made to do awesome mpg then i doubt a nomal octavia that weighs more an has more power(so uses more fuel) can beat it. just my opinion ofcourse

The Octy is quoted as having an Extra Urban mpg of 65.7mpg and the PD100 Fabia as 68.9mpg.

Extra Urban tests consists of half steady speed driving and half varying speed driving with speeds of upto 75mph.

If you are just doing a steady speed at around 60mph on A roads or motorway it's quite possible that you can better the Extra Urban figure.

The Lupo TDi Extra Urban figure is 78.5mpg
