Featured Replies

pleased with that me thinks.

cant get that with a vrs!!!

My superb has only done 7,000 miles and is a bit tight still so only getting 50/55mpg on a long run at the moment and 36 running round town :D

You must have been to Legoland!

When is your car booked in to have the trip computer repaired or were you 'towed' back from legoland?:rofl:

took a photo at toddington services at it says

6350.attach

The best i've ever got from my Megane 1.5Dci with official 62 mpg combined is about 69 mpg on a long run. I just can't see 89mpg from an Octy and I haven't a notion where Toddington is either. Sorry

Managed 99.9mpg, on a 8 mile journey from my home. Yes it was mostly downhill, but it was a fairly good figure!

You really shouldn't rely on the trip computer to give an accurate representation of your actual MPG, it only bases its predictions on throttle position and gear selection, then the average is just an average of that, you may be slightly dissapointed when you actually measure properly tank to tank - very few cars ever match (let alone exceed) the manufacturers figures!

I can get silly figures like 658MPG to come up on my display if i drive in the right way!! might get a pic to prove it if I remember to take out my camera!!

no, not relying on it to much, was just impressed. it did 367 miles to half a tank so when i can be bothered i'll work it out the old fasioned way.

economical driving sucks tho. steady 70mph all the way.

i did have the kids in the back tho.

any way john, what you doing on at half four????

My Megane trip comp is pretty good. I doesn't seem to give silly readings or an irrelevant instantaneous value. After you reset it changes every couple of seconds but as the miles clock up it changes less often as the mpg averages out which when you think of it is correct . One thing that annoys me is that once your range drops below 60 miles and you turn off the ignition and on again, it no longer displays the range like it can't compute it or something. Seems to be accurate though.

I got mine to read 6.5 mpg yesterday "!"

must of been one of those 'on boost' periods !

Pete :)

I run the Octavia for work.

I do a 10 mile A road run to work at 4.30am. I often get 80mpg+ on the fuel computer. Coming home between 2pm and 4pm I get mid 50's on the fuel computer.

Between full to the red light coming on is just a bit over ten gallons and I often see 600miles between fill ups.

The Fabia averages less but does far more town driving, on the same roads the PD100 Fabia and TDi110 Octy seem to do about the same mpg.

The Felicia 1.9D only avarages around 35mpg but it's old tech and just gets used for bombing round town centres and runs to the tip. :)

AFAIK the VAG 90/110bhp engine still holds the record as the most thermally efficient engine fitted to a production road car.

Cheers

Lee

Have to say I've been impressed with the 38.5 average MPG out of my vRS. Gets up to 47mpg on long runs, which is great for a 180bhp machine.

Optimax certainly helps.

any way john, what you doing on at half four????

I'd like to say i'd just got home after a particularly drunken and debauched night out!!....

But i'd be lying :(

I'd just finished work mate! It's a non stop thrill a minute lifestyle

funny i have had my 'rolling' mpg down to 5 no matter how hard i try it will not go below that...

Joel

Sure You Weren't Drinking Before Hand

89mpg Maybe Down Hill But On A Run No

like i said, ive got to work it out the old way but 367 miles to half a tank. thats more accurate.

if my maths is right, 82.575825 tot hat gallon.

you lot drive like girls the best mpg i've had so far is when i used 1/4 in 16 minutes at trax for 16 miles :D

now thats proper man driving!!

did you do the vent thingy when you filled it?? if you did then you need to add another couple gallons to your figures :)

that would bring you down to about 50 - 55 mpg which is a lot more realistic
