Just bought a skoda citigo sport 5 door used from skoda in Eastbourne, my question is really for citigo sport owners, on the log book and when I insured the car it is coming up as a 5 door se, dealer told me yes this is normal all sports are se with a few extras added on, surely this can't be true?

The sport is a model in its own right is it not?

Even tried putting derails into we buy any car and was given a price for a 5 door se.

Is the dealer trying to fob me off? And was car wrongly registered?

I'm thinking of the difficulties that might arise should I wish to sell. I've Def got a sport but v5 and recorded details show an se,

Any answers much appreciated.

Regards barry

Oo...there's an interesting question and I'd be interested if anybody has any answer for you. (Sorry I can't help - I have an Elegance)

On the V5 ,insurance web sites etc my Sport always comes up as a Citigo Sport, best to give DVLA a ring I think.

What about the dealer guys ,should this have not been sorted prior to sale ??,phoned them yesterday salesman sad all sports we have had have been registered and come up as se ,I smell a rat not happy at all .can I reject car ??

Is there a chance it started life as an SE? Being second hand and all, perhaps the previous owner decided to add the extras? I'm sure its possible to request the sport interior etc to be fitted? Be interesting to see the outcome on this

Our Leon was registered as an S spec in grey. It's actually an SX and silver. Could well be an idiot messed it up at first registration.

Don't think so dealer advertised it as a sport ,it has sports interior ,black alloys ,front fog lights ,sport stripes ???

Perhaps the dealer didn't realise it started life as an SE? (If it did of course) but either way if its been advertised as a Sport but says its an SE on the documents then that's false advertising surely?/

Mine says Sport and so is my Rapid too but they are both based on an SE originally.

Ring another dealer and ask them to tell you what it is according to the VIN.

Did the dealer sell it to you at an SE price? if so you may have a good deal.

The Sport is more expensive to buy, trouble is you will only get a trade in based on what the reg docs say it is.

I would definately query this and get it changed to what it should be.

It is a 63 plate at £8000 so I think sport money ,this is what is worrying me come resale or trade in time .phoned skoda in swansea they say it's an se but have agreed its a sport ??

The V5 showing an incorrect model has been happening for ages. The Mk1 Octavia VRS would sometimes have Ambiente on the V5 which was the equivalent of the SE back then. Phone Skoda uk and get them to check what it should show, the go back to the dealer and get them to sort it out.

Will do tommorow Dr

We had the same problem when ours was first registered, luckily I spotted it straight away. There was an issue with skoda wrongly registering them. Our V5's were sent away with a letter from skoda confirming they were sport editions.

Don't know how you'll get on as 2nd owner, probably best talking to skoda uk.

Be prepared to argue, they'll probably try and for you off. My argument was regarding insurance, they will use any excuse not to pay a claim and a wrongly registered car is a prime issue!

Good luck.

It it is a genuine Sport (which is most likely) then they should be able to get the V5 corrected.

If it's an SE that's been modified to Sport spec then I'd be asking for your money back. It will be worth less, and will cost you a lot more to insure as all the changes would need to be declared.

Perhaps use a app like my car check, yes the V5 might be incorrect but it might be registered as a sport and some dumb dumb got the V5 wrong,

If my car check looks like this:

Then you have a sport and a incorrect V5

If it looks like this:

Then there's no doubt its a SE

My car check has it listed as an SE

the my car check website indicates their information comes from the DVLA, so it should match the V5 but may still be wrong.

Time to make some phone calls me thinks, if your unable to get anywhere, get in touch with trading standards

Thanks guys ,so I guess skoda uk first ?? Then dealers second ??

Skoda UK should contact the dealer themselves but that doesn't mean you shouldn't

I have a Sport purchased new in July 2013. The V5 states it as an SE model. Not sure when yours was first registered, but I understand that there was a delay in the DVLA 'recognising' the Sport as a trim level in it's own right rather than a limited edition version of the SE. Later cars had this issue rectified.

I can't dispute this without having any evidence of a claim being rejected for this reason - but I seriously can't imagine a claim being rejected for something you as the owner had no control of. The V5 is something sent to me by the DVLA not something I fill in myself.

Can't understand why DVLA have trouble reconising a model, surely if they are given info, the correct info it should be put on the V5.

They do make mistakes though, but who gives them the info?   One MX-5 I owned had down on the V5 as being a 4 seater, try getting 2 rear seats in one of those.  :notme:  Don't know if it made any difference to insurance, I mean you are insuring a car according to the V5 capable of carring 4 people. Anyway I digress, :x
