Fumes

Featured Replies

We had done a twenty five mile run and returning home stopped in the local car park

On the way in I drove through a big puddle, instantly the car was filled with acrid

fumes (the sort you get near a gas boiler exhaust) I parked up and waited while my wife

shopped. The car restarted with no problem and we listened carefully for signs that the

exhaust may have been blowing before driving off. We did a six mile drive and no sign

of fumes while driving or idling at lights, any ideas?

Did you have a dog in the car?

Dirty water condensing on the exhaust?

Was it doing a re-gen at the time?

Water from the puddle on hot exhaust. If you haven't noticed it since, nothing to worry about.

Agree, stop worrying and keep driving. :sun:

looby, I think you were right, lots of heat and a deep puddle with it on regen

Should it happen again, check the tightness of the clamp between the turbo and the exhaust pipe.
