Help! VRS with no headlights.

Featured Replies

Noticed as I was driving home tonight, once I'd got on to darker roads from the city and motorway that my lights weren't on! I remember one person flashing me, which makes sense now.

Once I'd pulled up I had a look and my sidelight/drls are lit and the rear lights are all fine but my dipped and main beam are not lit at all. When I flick the main beam on the stalk I can hear the bulb mechanism moving, so I don't think it's an issue with the stalk.

I changed the bulbs to decent ones I think maybe a year ago.

Any ideas what the issue is and what/where to check. I have no bulb warning lights appeared on the dash.

I have a 30 mile drive fairly early tomorrow morning in the dark! Any help appreciated!

Either, unluckily you have two blown bulbs, on the later models it is one bulb for both dipped and main beam. Or could be a fuse?

The bulb out warning really can't be relied on from what i hear about its inability to reliably warn you of issues. The bulbs you need are H7's or 477's, depending who you are asking.

Cheers Ryan, yes it was both bulbs blown after all! I was actually in Faversham today, driving back to Medway on the unlit A2 with just sidelights was no fun earlier!!

After a lot of cursing and scraped skin, finally got both bulbs changed in the dark and cold. I've bought Osram nightbreakers again as they were pretty cheap from ECP, but if they barely last a year I might go for normal brightness next time. There is not much discernible difference anyway, the VRS headlights are a poor design and I'm definitely carrying spares now as it was pretty dangerous driving on just LEDs earlier.
