Two aerial wires

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 07 Scout and would like to upgrade to a better radio.

Mine has only one wire but nearer ones are fitted with the swing radio that has two.

Does anyone know where the second wire goes? I have looked at new models and cannot find anything on the glass like in other Skoda's.

Does anyone own a newer model and know where it goes.

Thanks

I believe the two aerial wires are for DAB radio reception as there is a Doppler effect with DAB. Don't know where the wires run though

On the newer models there is a second aerial in the windscreen that runs vertically down the centre of the glass, this is for the diversity function, which improves reception. You can get an adapter that could join the two connectors in to one for use with a newer type of radio, however you may have other issues fitting a newerVW / Skoda radio such as battery drain - I'm not too up on this though. It's probably simpler to go for a branded after-market stereo in respect of that.

Thanks for your replies.

I didn't want to spend that much on a new set, there's plenty of Swing and Dance models on ebay.

Haven't thought about the battery drain, Wings did show me a diagram with a long rectangle piece not sure where it fits, but I haven't had time to go back and speak to there man who knows about this sort of thing.

Only asked them as was able to get the car in for service before xmas.

Thanks

David
