Pump Injector Element Recal 2.0 TDi 170

Featured Replies

As it's widely known, there is a recall for the injectors on the above engine and many topics about this.

Most of the topics are dated when the recall was announce, and there appears to be mixed feelings on whether it improved their car or not (certainly on the older threads)

I'm in the dilemma now on wanting to know if to get it done/checked.

Skoda UK have confirmed that my car hasn't been done and it's still outstanding. My car is a MK2 Octy 56 plate, full service boith Skoda and independant with 119,000 miles down.

Only 2 issues/grumbles I have are:

  • I have some black smoke occasionally when the turbo boost comes in (possibly DPF deleted)?
  • Also, there is a flat spot if I accelerate hard, around the 3500 rev mark.

What's the general consensus of opinion,

Are the above symptons attributed from possible bad injector/s?

Is this somewhat normal from this engine/mileage, and as I have lived with it for 4 months, continue to do so?

Those that have had the recall done, any nasty surprises after having it done, better or worse. Interested to know those that have had it done recently.

Thanks in advance

Black smoke out of the exhaust means either the DPF has been removed or it isn't working correctly. This combined with the flat spot suggests a remap or a poor DPF-delete map.

The vast majority of those who had issues immediately after the injectors were replaced had them done very close to the official VOSA recall.

There were lots of issues and Skoda certainly felt the pain. I was one of the early adopters and was stung hard. Trust me Skoda knew their dealers were getting it wrong.

As a result those who had the injectors replaced much later meant that by then the dealers had had plenty of practice and the reports of issues greatly reduced.

The fact is that 4x injectors and the labour to fit them at a Skoda main dealer is getting very close to £1,000.

You'd be mad not to get them done for free.

Secondly whilst the car is in they will automatically run a diagnostic check and the technician will be all over the engine bay - so you'll be getting a free health check too!

Thanks Silver.

I think I'll get it booked in then, only worried now that they might flash the ECU, I really don't know if it has had the DPF out or not but it is a quick car (faster than my Leon FR ever was).

I'm sure they won't touch the ECU.

It is likely they will scan the car to check for fault codes and outstanding recalls etc. so they'll know the car isn't standard, but then this has nothing to do with them, it isn't as though the car is still under warranty.

A remap or DPF-delete has no bearing on the performance of the injectors so you'll be fine.

Would probably be best to say to them as I made the mistake of putting my ford Mondeo into the ford garage for diagnostic check without mentioning and they updated ecu without telling me scrubbing my £300 remap

Is there any recall issues with the (05 octy 2.0 tdi 140 bhp) that you know of ?

Cheers kev.

Thanks!
