07 Octavia vRS dipstick

Featured Replies

Does anyone else find the dipstick on the Octavia hard to read accurately ?  I check the oil every 300 - 400 miles and have never really been happy with reading the dipstick.  I don't suppose there is a replacement I could buy that would be better is there ?

Yes it was a total PITA. I usually had to make sure the dipstick was completely dry before putting it in so I could spot any difference at all. Especially bad soon after a service when the oil was clean.

Don't think there is any alternative. I vaguely recall someone painting the end to make it clearer but that sounds a bit risky to me.

Yes, its not easy to read, I've  painted the end with a light spray of white paint after cleaning and its still on.

New oil is a nightmare !  It would be great if they coloured engine oil luminous orange so I could see it !  I was hoping there would be an aftermarket  dipstick replacement.  Painting it does sound risky to me.
