Rev limited to 3750rpm

Featured Replies

So trying to establish why my car is vibrating,(see separate thread), I've come across this.

Started car, bonnet up, to see if engine is visibly vibrating at high rpm. Sat in car and pressed throttle but engine will only rev to 3750 rpm. Put foot on clutch, still 3750. Put it in gear, still 3750. Ah bonnet up maybe that's it, closed bonnet, so car now as would be for driving, still 3750! Handbrake off, still 3750!

Can't say I've ever done the 0-60 test in the car (lots of revs - dump clutch),but have pulled out of junctions quickly and not noticed a problem but do all vRS's do this or am I missing something?

Yup they are all limited while stationary. The TDi is 2500rpm.

Alot of modern cars do this, it's to stop numpties damaging the engine by reving the nuts off it with no load.

Thanks, but I've just been out and sat in car and had a think and deactivated the ASR. Hey presto, revs away to redline. Technology eh!

ASR?

ASR?

Traction control

Rev limiter? But a useful(less) post none the less!
