Really.?

In which section of the Owners Manual?

i can not see anything in the Stop / Start section saying to Disable its function while doing a journey.

Is that near where they say,

'May use 0.5 litres of oil 1000 km, dependent on driving style and conditions'.  (Paraphrasing there.)

&

that is for all engine, 3 or 4 Cylinders. Petrol or Diesel.

People have lives to get on with, and turning into a filling station and waiting 2 minutes to turn off the engine, then checking oil at the time you

fill your tank is not half going to take some time.

Germans must have more time than other drivers.

I can't remember where, but somewhere in my dads Jettas book. Read it some time ago. Don't know why, but I like reading instruction manuals more than anything else.

I think most here have spoken about driving a bit easier before stopping.

& i think Seb was asking about his Modern 1.6 TDI CR Turbo or similar.

I have been reading Owners Manuals cover to cover for decades as well.

& driving cars,

Things change over time, and engines and components change as well.

VW & Skoda do not even say the same thing or terms in Owners Manuals for the Same Engines,

Often Lost in Translation, often from German to English, or CZ to German to English.

You can watch an Official  VW 'how to Video', and it contradicts the VW Owners Manual.

Checking Oil, Cold,  Warm, Operating Temperature,  Wait a Few Minutes etc.

Sometimes the 'Factory Trained Technicians' do not know the recommended or prescribed procedures.

My mate always watched the temps on his GTR and wouldnt stop it until it had dropped below a certain number.

Think thats common practice in one tbf. Twin turbo n'all

I'm not sure whether the low pressure ones in day to day run arounds require such treatment.

I guess it depends on the driver.

Or is it the car. ?

like a GTR vs a 1.6 TDI CR 105 ps (Dirty diesel, not Rolling Coal)

Knowing what I do of the level of testing and validation car manufacturers go to before launching a new car, there is no way a high power turbo engine would be let loose with a device that switched the engine off immediately after hooning around up to whatever hazard brought you to a standstill. Despite that, I'd still not rely on long life oil and variable interval changes, or the oil that the dealer uses. I'm taking my own stuff into the garage and changing it every 10k miles.

Its all the same principle though isnt it. Its all forces induction via a turbo.

Okay the sizes and power are different, but if youve been thrashing something, whether its powerful or not its gonna get hot.

Maybe even more so a smaller engine. But easier to thrash 105bhp than 550bhp. Full throttle more of the time.

So same principle?

Just cant see temps as well i suppose
