Rs Pedal covers install - HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi, I have finally (7 months, 1 week!) received my Octavia ambition+ (similar to SE spec) with a heap of goodies.

I have already received my superskoda and ledperf and other accessories orders, and am busy trying to fit everything to the car. I have fitted the clutch and break pedal covers (pull off old rubber, put new on, simple as) but for the life of me I cant get the accelerator pedal cover on properly.... Ther is like a "lip" around the inside edge of the cover, which I gather goes over the original plastic pedal. It appears to have a "key" at the top that you slide over the top of the pedal and then work around the sides and bottom to get it sitting correctly. I simply cant get that top lip to seat properly (pedal always moves sideways).....I have searched, but my google-fu is weak.

Does anyone have pictures of how this is done? I'm a big bloke (6'ft and 95kg) so being practically upside down in the pedal space trying to figure it out is F'n difficult to say the least!

I'm sure it cant be this hard - I know i'm doing something wrong but for the life of me cant figure it out!

Try to moisture both rubber surfaces with medicinal alchool.

Bit of fairy liquid should do it!

With alcohool is better. It will evaporate leaving no resideus. Do not use soap based products.

So like isopropyl alcohol? That evaporates quickly. I'm a little worried about that leaving a white residue on the rubber too.

Haven't had a chance to look at it since the other day. Will try some alcohol and see if that helps!

Or try some KY jelly

Sorry but you can use the "lubricant" coming from your mouth :D

The accelerator pedal is a little bit tricky but I succeeded in a few minutes.

Try installing left or right side first then the other sides.

Use a small mirror to see what are you doing.

Used to use hairspray on bike handlebar grips, slips on then as it evaporates becomes tacky then sticks

Had another crack at it today (first chance i've had) and it went on with little effort. Doing pretty much exactly what I was doing before. It is disgustingly humid today, rather than dry, so maybe that helps. But, I have my RS pedals now, they look great!
