New car ideas?

Featured Replies

As mentioned in an earlier thread I am looking to sell the skud in favour of a 2 seater convertible sports type thing.

Cars in the runnin so far are:

Honda s2000 GT - great fun but hard work to drive fast and stupid digital dash means you can never tell how fast you're going

BMW Z4 (except that I could only afford the 2.2 :thumbdwn: )

Porsche boxster (except that for my money it would have about 60k on the clock)

Alfa GTV Spyder - fantastic handling car but it'll cost a fortune and bits will fall off it!

New mazda MX5 (except that its only going to have a 2 litre lump so will probably be a bit pedestrian)

Have I missed anything out. Ive got about 20k to spend and would like a tiny bit of storage space (so an elise is out straight away!) and I dont really need too many reliability issues (so I guess thats TVR out as well)

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Dont they have roofs?

MGTF? (s******s)

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!!!!

yeah i know but there is nothing like them and lets face it aa cover gets you a free courtesy car nowdays!

Out of all the cars mentioned i wouldnt even blink if one drove past but theres something about the tvr's, not just that they are made in blackpool but they are just amazing, reliability doesnt matter, and with those extra speakers you wont even hear the rattles!!!!!!

I agree you cant help but notice a TVR....anyone on here got any experience of actually owning one?

Dont they have roofs?

I thought they didn't, but maybe I dreamed that up.........I do that a lot

And whats wrong with the MGTF? :P

Nothing........... if you're into that sort of thing :D

And whats wrong with the MGTF? :P

Lets simplify that, what's RIGHT with the MGTF?

They handle well (unless you count braking)

That's it. :thumbdwn:

Edit: On topic - the new MX-5 will probably be quicker than most point to point because it'll handle fantastically if it's anything like the old one

Unfortunately all cabrio type motors are a bit :gay: though.

Get a cheap day to day runabout then spend the rest on a westfield

I'm running a 200ish BHP Westfield that weighs all of 600kg and the insurance.....

westfields are not really anything special, if your going to go the kit route get a cobra but just in case here is the review on pistonheads for the Tuscan

Note the very last sentance

Try before you buy - but you will buy!

0 to 60 in 4 seconds

I wonder what youd get with a little modifying

Nope, I had a coupe version and got motorway limit breaking speeds

Plus the Roadster has a bigger engine than mine did. Though, it won't get you 200mph.

The top speed in a roadster is double that (110mph) but how often are you going to use that speed? I've yet to see a car that can comfortably keep up with me on twisties. Go for the sports pack (with paddles and wheels the same size as a fabia vRS).

Or if you really want, then go for the brabus version, heated leather, 17's, louder exhaust tone, and well everything the others have.

Drive one then joke about it ;)

Moose - did you have the 61bhp or 82bhp version coupe (greenhouse)?

61bhp Smart & Pulse

Silver Tridion

Softouch

True Blue panels

Still 10 seconds to 60 even in the brabus version.

Shame really cos I like the idea of them and they're great value for money. Just think I need a bit more power!

westfields are not really anything special

 No because 300+ BHP per ton in a rear wheel drive car is normal

I would personally have:

Honda S2000

Boxter

MX5

And yes a MGF VVC < don't knock it until you have tried

And that is it - anything else is GAY ! :gay:

Honda NSX or Mitsubishi 3000GT ;)

or Mitsubishi 3000GT ;)

:gay: ;)
