HELP! - Eibach Springs - Supply & Fit Costs

Featured Replies

Generally after 2 or 3 thousand miles they'll be totally settled. Just mention to them it's been lowered but will still be set to original settings. It'll just be lower. Feel free to ask questions :)

My local Skoda dealer offered £230 all in including parts and fitting. And assured me this wouldn't void warranty. My friend and local mechanic asked for £50 labour for fitting if I sourced the spring

They told me that you can only aligne the font. The back is fixed and you will only have camber on the front...

You can align all 4 wheels, I'm only imagining this but if you lower the suspension (fit shorter springs) then the camber will be affected. It might not be by enough to make a difference but if the wheel goes up it does go up at a slight angle. When you see heavily lowered cars it's really noticeable. 30 mil on mine, not so noticeable but could be enough to cause inside wear. It's very stressful making your car look better lol.

By the way I like the pic of your Rapid, Rider XXL. That's nicely lowered

Thx , couldn't find springs that gave a lowerd look. I find that those eibach and h&r springs give a good lowering as the car should look like not lowerd and so standart.

I don t know what Skoda was thinking.

So I opted 4 kw var1 but didn't slamed it on the ground. I just wanted an OEM+ look.

Skoda don't use Skoda shocks to lower Rapids, the shocks they used on mine are BILSTEINS. They are approved and fitted by Skoda. Personally id rather have them approved and fitted by Skoda for several reasons, they don't mess up your warranty and they are fitted by Skoda mechanics.

shock absorbers (dampers) don't raise or lower a vehicle.

Dampers are considered a wear item & fitment of a direct replacement part will not affect the warranty of the surrounding parts.

Skoda mechanics - blah.  There's no guarantee that last week they weren't pulling parts at a breakers yard.  I was given a job at a BMW workshop & I'd never worked on a BMW in my life.

Ridgeway Group (Reading, Newbury and Oxford) are quoting £350 fitted; City Skoda in Basingstoke quoted me £287.

I wouldn't get Skodas kit fitted as they're wrong. Go direct to Eibach. They're £199 for the correct kit. Find a decent independent who'll fit them for you.

  • 1 month later...

Hello to you all, I had new springs fitted to my Rapid by the dealer prior to collecting my car. I wasn't sure at the time who made the springs as the invoice didn't say and I didn't confirm, as it turns out they were Eibachs and should have lowered the car by 30mm. This was done in June and since then I have noticed that the near side seems to sit a bit higher than the off side, particularly the rear. I didn't know if I was imagining it and thought that I should give the springs time to settle. Not even sure if springs actually do settle but if someone suggests I should have waited then at least I can say I have. I'm now considering taking it back and asking the dealer to check. Can anyone advise me if there could be a rational explanation, eg the camber of the road, the weight or position of the fuel tank can off set the weight etc etc. Or God forbid, but Skoda K#c?ed it up!! Again!!!!!!!

I dont believe it.  Another driver who suspects his suspension hasn't been fitted correctly but still didn't take it straight back.

I understand Stormy is driving around on the wrong springs 6 months later whilst complaining about the cars high-speed instability. :peek:

Surely messed up modifications invalidate your insurance guys???

I'm collecting our replacement rapid on friday and was tempted on monday to get them to lower it, very glad I didn't reading through this...

Nels is your a diesel model?

If it's not you have the wrong kit fitted too :(

Mine only sits 20mm higher at the front thanks to Skoda but will be sorted (hopefully) next month on its 1st service.

Yes mine is unstable and looks stupid too.

It drives fine, actually better than on the test drive before springs fitted, it is something which is hard to exactly say is wrong. Its not like something which doesn't work because it handles well and feels fine, it just appears to be higher on one side, but then the road cambers and there could be any number of reasons to explain it. I'm not one to keep going to the garage and being fobbed off. I'd rather go with some facts and a definite problem. That way I stand a better chance of getting it sorted first time.

It's petrol.

If it's the 1.2tsi that kit is wrong I'm afraid just like mine. I've been onto Skoda since May about this and my dealer too. They're hardwork. The kit that Skoda supply is only for the 1.4dsg and 1.6tdi as they have a front axle weight of 960kgs. The 1.2 has a weight of 880kgs. The rear springs are the same. I've been on to Eibach UK and they have confirmed the same and told me they supply the kit to Skoda who then re number it. I gave him the number off my front springs and he confirmed they're wrong for the 1.2.

Eeek panicking now; after all it's the family car!

I know how bad Skoda are now after buying mine during the Skoda one big weekend in June where they offer 2 free services, one minor, one major, only to get a letter confirming 2 minor services. It's taken me since June to get it in writing that I can have one major and one minor. Skoda UK washed their hands and put it on the dealer to honour this despite me telling them that all Skodas need one major and one minor otherwise two minor services back to back would invalidate my warranty. I'm actually disgusted with Skoda UK. They are nothing like Skoda try and portray themselves. How on earth do I begin dealing with the wrong suspension? Do you have any proof you could send me so I can begin the long stressful journey of proving they did it wrongly??

Get the correct Eibach kit if you want these on your car.

All of my records and case is logged with Skoda Customer satisfaction,Parts Technical and there Warranty dept.I have nothing in writing but my dealer has all relelvant information and photos showing its difference in measurements.

I have the photos i took with the part numbers i found on the front springs which are Eibach numbers. If your numbers are the same then they are wrong.I also have the correct part number from Eibach which is correct for the 1.2tsi.

This is Skodas kit part number which is incorrect: ZGB 5JA071676

Eibachs correct kit part number: E10-79-009-01-22

Thanks very much for this info, can you tell me what your situation is with Skoda, have they agreed their mistake? How much is the correct kit?

Also why do Skoda supply the wrong kit and re number it, sorry to ask so many questions but obviously I need to know. It seems so strange they would get it wrong? If we can find this out why are they still selling and fitting the wrong kits???

As far as Skoda are concerned there is no mistake. I'm awaiting the outcome hopefully next month when it has its first service. The Eibach kit is £199.

Mine was done as a bribery goodwill gesture from Skoda as I rejected the car a few months ago (long story). They have to re number the kit as obviously they can't use an Eibach number if they're offering it as a Skoda part. There Parts Tech dept are saying it covers all models ranging from 880 to 960 kgs weight. Shows how little they know when Eibach list 2. I've been trying to drum this into there thick skulls for months and also Bickerton Skoda who run Skodaparts.com have had lots of problems with this kit too. He now orders direct from Eibach. The more people that complain the better as far as I'm concerned. I'll be onto them tomorrow again about this until I get an answer. I have told them I will take it further if need be. They simply don't care.

So your words were the ones I used whilst speaking to a lovely lady in Motorline's parts department, who in fairness was very good, friendly and physically checked the car that I'm buying to see what parts I needed. She sent me through a screen bump from her system and their only relaying what skoda tell them, it says on their screen they are infact for rapid's weighting 880-9xxx (whatever the two weights are). I do agree that there is clearly something wrong if you can get a specific set for the 1.2! I'd say skoda UK arr the ones at fault?

Anyway, I'm going to get the windows tinted and get the audio sounding good before I play with ride height and wheels. And I still have that splitter to fit, de-badge and grill to colour code!

Hi All

I've been intending to order and fit the Skoda supplied -30mm Eibach's to my newly purchased Rapid Spaceback Black Ed.

A problem I'm having is with my local dealer.. a multi-franchise operation that I will refrain from naming (and shaming) at this precise moment (but if you live in Jersey you will know exactly who they are), who whilst using the tag line 'Driving down the cost of motoring' in their advertising, want to charge me £200.00 for the springs and £400 to fit them.

As a regular (daily) follower of the Rapid forum I've come to notice several threads posted by those who have been quoted, have or will shortly be having the Skoda supplied Eibach's fitted to their Sport's or Spaceback's, in virtually every case for massively less (at around £200-250) than the rip-off price (£600) my dealer is trying to charge.

At the time of purchasing my Octavia III vRS a few months ago, I had the -40mm H&R's I had purchased elsewhere (for €157) fitted by this dealer at a cost of £400, which was a 'special deal' they did for me, their original quoted price being £600 (and remember this is for fitting only as I supplied the springs), and I've since found numerous posts on the Octavia III forum by other owners who have had the same springs fitted for considerably less (at between £80-150 labour).

I've bought 3 brand new cars from this dealer in the past 5 months (the aforementioned Octavia III vRS 2.0 TDi DSG estate and Rapid Spaceback 1.2TSi Black Ed., together with the Fabia II 1.2 TSi DSG I purchased for my parents), spending over £57K in the process, and I'm starting to feel like they're taking the pi** and ripping me off.

So… I intend to take the dealer (and specifically their workshops) to task over the matter, and therefore have a request of my fellow Briskoda followers/Rapid owners.

Whilst I've compiled a basic list of those who have posted the costs of having their Eibach's supplied and fitted, could I ask all those who have gone down this road to post to this particular thread as I intend to confront the dealer armed with as much evidence of other peoples costs/experiences as possible!

Thanks.

Skoda supplied and fitted for just over £211 by local Skoda dealer to my Rapid Sport.  That is a disgusting price you're being quoted!

I paid the same as turboman £211 all in, but they are the skoda springs

Edited by wire

I know the pain you are going through with Skoda, I am staggered at their attitude over my servicing, so I can only begin to imagine how hard it is to convince them about the springs. I might see how it turns out with you and if it's positive then I can use your example. In the meantime please feel free to quote me as another customer with the same problem. My car is a 2015 Rapid Sport, bought from Citygate Watford, kit was supplied and fitted by them and it's the same as yours, my car sits higher on nearside?? Still don't understand why but there you go? I don't know if I can go through the misery with Skoda so may well end up buying the correct kit and getting a proper garage to fit it.
