  • Spend less than a grand on a bike and you could have over 1000bhp per ton stock

  • fold them rear seats fully flat, bossfox, will drop some good weight doing that

  • This is mine, unladen with no driver.       Add a 75kg driver and you are around 1,585kg with a full tank. (kerbweight is qoted as 1,505kg, so correct without a driver) I can't see how a 1.6

Mines only one tonne anyway :P

Be more impressive if it was 2 tonne.

Then atleast you could say its 140bhp ;)

Mine will tow its own weight plus 200kg :P

Then itd be about 25bhp/ton? Haha

You added an extra 20 accidently

Mine (assuming its circa 320bhp) is still "only" 237bhp per ton. Despite my efforts at lightening it, it still weighed in at 1350kg with MOT tester and half a tank of fuel on board.

Lots of torque though.

From that big heavy lump of pig iron. ;)

Quite! :D  Pig iron, love it.  Wish I could lose that weight to be fair....

Would like to know my torque.  Whilst it may not be a proportional increase ( to a stock car ) peak figure is likely to be around 450 to 470 lb/ft at 3500rpm+

I need to get it on a dyno once my mapping is all finished.

470lb ft is a hell of alot for such a small car.

I bet youve caught a few hot hatches and salesman off guard? Haha.

I never race, but I do enjoy surprising a few people yes.  Performed a nice double overtake along a very long straight section with great visibility.  Myself and the crewcab truck in front overtook a proper dawdler and then of course I had to go past him too.  3rd gear now has serious grunt, and the due to the raised limiter it's got that power to 5200rpm.

Haa sounds fun!

Those are the overtakes i enjoy the most. Following something through an overtake (once decided its safe of course), waiting for them to pull in, then oosht, straight past them too.

I dno why its so fun, but it is. Especially if the said car is something abit sporty or abit flashy.

Salesman in his 3.0tdi a4 is a nice one. Did that last year with a big grin lol

Did one of those yesterday, Peugeot Partner being over took by a Merc Cls, he pulls in and some nutter in a Jag comes storming past :P

Its fun isnt it!

The rest of the time the power isnt really needed.

Well its not all needed then either. But we like to make sure it doesnt get clogged up ;) haha.

Feels a bit more powerful now the fuel, system knows it's not constantly on full throttle

It probably is with you driving..

Heres a link to a power to weight calculator http://westfield-wor...-to-weight.html FWIW The v-storm was 297bhp/tonne (wet without driver) my new build will be around 550bhp/tonne on full boost, though for the school runs and to stop the engine from exploding it'll be closer to 440bhp/tonne.

I must be behind here sorry haha.

Whats your new build?

Thats more than a GTR

GTR isn't amazing power to weight because it's so frigging heavy.

Gearbox makes the car so quick. :)

My Yeti will have about 10% more bhp/tonne when it's done than a stock GT-R.

But they do mod well.

Yeah! Gearbox is massively quick isnt it.

Yeti? Is this with the TTRS engine?

My mates looking into a an 800bhp GTR atm boss. That should be quick lol.

Yes, and a bit pointless on the road as it'll still handle like the 1,800kg it is.

Big power GT-Rs have one clear purpose.

Willy waving bhp claims.

And breaking expensive transmission bits. :D

The sweet spot is staying under 650.

Thatll be fun. I liked the engine in the ttrs i went in. Will be awesome in a yeti.

Tbf mate. Hes not bothered about willy waving, or he'd buy a ferrari aha. He soon got used to the 550bhp and wanted more. It obviously was quick. Really impressive in the corners, but the straight lines dont seem mind blowing.

I think mind blowing is what hes after haha

Hmm. Could do without it blowing a transmission. They arent cheap are they lol

Willy wavers don't generally buy Ferraris.

Paying more to go slower.

An 800bhp GT-R is faster than a Veyron if set up right.

It's not about the badge, it's about the performance.

I watch the GT-R guys trying to outdo each other.

Several have spent £100k on the cars and they are still not the most exciting cars out there because they are still capable, safe and heavy. So insulate you.

But they do have silly BHP figures that impress people when you talk about them.

BHP/tonne is surely going to always be skewed in favour of a high revving petrol engine, maybe Torque per specific weight? Nm/t would give a better indication of the potential acceleration (Newton's 2nd law and all that)

I overtook a gtr around brands in my Fabia :D

I don't think he liked the rain

Fair shout.

He just likes the thrill of massive acceleration. Just like i do with my bikes.

Nothing to do with what people think. Just the thrill of opening up and getting sent forward like a mad lol.

Just seen the rest of your post: hes really not bothered about that. He just buzzes off the speed. He doesnt brag about anything. Tbf, i probably talk about it more than he does (cos its such an obscene thing for me haha).

If you spoke to him, he wouldnt say a lot.
