Fault Code Advice - Octavia Scout TDi BMM

Featured Replies

hi

This is my first post in the VCDS forum and hoping for a bit of advice please.

I'm hoping to resolve these faults myself (as much as is practical...)

I have a 2008 Octavia Scout TDi (BMM), recently noticed a hissing noise coming from centre of the dash.

Searching the MK2 Octavia forum suggested that the air con gas pressure is low needs regassing.

Got hold of Ross-Tech VCDS and ran a scan.

The scan revealed 4 faults which are listed below.

  • 01 - Engine
    • 3 glow plugs - open circuit
    • Cylinders 1, 2, & 4
  • 08: HVAC
    • refrigerant pressure low

I'm hoping that someone can advise on these faults and how best to go about resolving them.

My intention for the HVAC is to get it regassed - is this the best approach? Is there a recommended company near Crewe, Cheshire?

For the glow plugs - I'm open to any advice on how to approach this, as I'm not sure where to check first.

VCDS log below for the affected modules.

regards

Nigel

Low refrigerant pressure can cause funny noises. Also looks like you have some duff glow plugs.

Thanks for the quick reply trundlenut.

I'll source a local air con engineer or garage to do the re-gassing.

regarding the glow-plugs.

how much are these and are they much of a job to replace? Prefer to use OEM parts unless advised otherwise.

If there's no pressure in the system then there must be a leak, you need to get it checked before trying to regas it.

Don't know the price of the glow plugs exactly, but they are probably £10-15 each. Bit if a pain to replace as they are under the rocker cover IIRC.

OK thanks - seems there's a local garage that specialise in air con (among other things) - AutoLock in Crewe - I'll give them a ring tomorrow - they are usually very busy but according to their web site can diagnose the problem before starting any repairs.

Is there likely to be any damage caused if the car is run until fixed?

Will give Skoda dealer a call re glow plugs - might buy one and replace it to see if the number of glow plug faults drops from 3 to 2.

The system turns itself off when the pressure drops. I drove around with a knackered compressor for about 5 months without problem.
