Who's remapping it? Ultimately it will depend on the company doing the work as to what they see as safe etc :)

id say you would be looking around 135 - 140bhp

135bhp, put on a larger Intercooler and 149bhp. The one from my Yeti would bolt on and would give 149bho it's at Shark Performance ;)

Mine seemed to stop at 197kmh no matter what, felt like I'd let off the accelerator once I hit that. But limiter removed can do over that now.

The only speed limiter I am aware of is the one for 250 kph that all VAG cars have on them which the Octy 3 VRS, petrol of course not diesel as standard, can hit and the Superb 3.6 litre.

 

You would have to look at power at revs on the standard and mapped car to see what it is doing at those revs, if, with a manual box, it is doing some 4.5 to 4.8 K revs it will simply be nearing the redline and running out of the rev range which is why I prefer the DSG boxed versions as 6th and 7th are nice and tall gears so you always have revs lelft to use.  I think in 7th gear it is about 28 mph per thousand revs in the Fabia VRS so 140 mph is only about 5k revs and max power is around 6K.

 

Unless you are using Pendine sands or going to Germany or track to do the run it is not easy to find the space to do such things.  I have a friend you has used the M50 which is quite quiet but UK roads curves are designed for 70-80 mph driving with thier corner radius and at 130-150 things come up mighty quick with the road appearing to turn in to a country lane with its twists.

 

Compare the rolling road power curves and power at road speed in top gear for both cars and it should give top speed, speed is a funtion of power as a cube so 30% more power only gives about 10% higher speed and also acceleration as a funtion of the area under the graph between the gear change points. 

 

Thinking of chipping the 90 hp 1.6 diesel with the DSG in the Rapid and hopefully will also get about 135 hp and althoough it will go beyond the 250 Nm torgue for the 7 speed DSG it should handle 300-350 Nm without complaining  too much as some have run it with 380 Nm.

So your remapped 1.6 TDi can do 133mph?

Did they also remap the dash clocks to over-read too?

I'm not suggesting you've made it up, just that your speedo is a fair bit optimistic

1.6CR is indeed speed limited (as opposed to just rev limited), this is because of the long gears this engine is mated to, I guess VAG recognised the fact that any extra power directly translates to top speed increase (190km/h is at below 3500rpm in 5th).  You can see the static maximum speed limit in VCDS. In a Roomster and several other cars,  the limit is 190km/h (note this is actual, or GPS speed, so it's about 197km/h on the speedo), and you can easily reach it even in a Roomster on an autobahn. 

 

While I am not going to chip my Roomster as it is already on 2nd engine block (replaced under warranty, fuel in engine oil) despite stock power, I would expect that a chip taking the power to 135bhp from stock 105bhp and removing the speed limiter, would result in at least 130mph / 210kph top speed. For Fabia or Rapid, the result would likely be higher, 133mph sounds very plausible.

But if you look at the power curve on the majority of remaps, the gain is in the mid-range, ie, where it is most useable, not geared to increasing top-end speed, which, unless you drive regularly outside the UK, is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard

Are you running a GPS at the same time as that would give the true speed accurate to 1% or so rather than the car speedo which is usually reading about 5% high?

 

As a regular user of the M4, A40 (and M50 which is one place it tends to be quite clear) please remember that getting knicked at 130+ in the UK is not regarded as a jolly jape compared to Germany where you can get told off for doing 200 kph and pulling out in front of someone doing 250 or 300 kph.  Have motorcycling colleagues who having got knicked at 150 mph plus (we can get to that speed in less than 10 seconds from 70) have suffered dire consequences.  Having done many a road exercise with the police, who would drive at 130 mph or so just for the hell of it, no blues and twos, and after a plod getting picked up at 155 mph on the A5/M54 and getting let off there is no justice in this regard.

The speed I've done does sound silly in the UK maybe il have to make a visit to Germany for a road trip. I haven't tried running gps too. I know the figure wouldn't be as high but still I'm very impressed with the remap. After the new year il get a dyno and print out and post it on here will be interested to see what it's running myself.

Posts #11 and #12 questioned the existence of speed limiter, not whether it is an issue on UK roads, and I am pretty sure anyone interested in 190kph speed limiter at all is either driving on track, or on autobahn from time to time. Every year over 2 million UK cars go abroad to various destinations. Diesel fuel got a lot less expensive lately, even more so in Europe (£0.85 in Calais today). It makes sense again to "fly" across Germany at close to top speed (at least until they introduce passenger car road tolls in 2016, currently debated in Bundestag). 

 

Also, most maps provide proportional power and torque increase from the point turbocharger is fully spun up , unless the tuner deliberately chooses to reduce top end gain. Below is a sample map, you can see that the peak power is actually increasing right until 4400rpm or so. So as you can see, power gain is geared towards higher revs, though top end speed does not increase as much on account of power required to overcome air drag rising with third power of speed.

The vRS petrol engine might also be speed limited, especially in view of its less than stellar gearbox durability (7 speed DSG).  

 

Note also that the vRS has actually 6% higher air drag than the non-vRS version (0.34 vs 0.32, refer to Fabia brochure), and that drag alone loses ~10bhp in competition to the diesel one at close to top speed. And the 5mph difference is still quite a lot in power, assuming at this point it's mostly air drag, it's about 20bhp. So 150bhp as shown on a sample map above would be enough.

 

Finally, my Octavia Mk1 with ~138bhp (remapped TDI110 mated to 6-speed drivetrain from a 130PD engine) was able to hit top speed of ~133mph or so (GPS).

Fabia 2 drivetrain is very similar (many parts migrated from Mk1), drag coefficient is slightly higher (0.32 vs Mk1 Octy 0.31), but frontal area lower, and mass also lower.
