I agree with Gaz about the Vrs. Not worth the potential hassle IMO. 180ps isnt much really.

I get shouted at by vrs owners when i say it though haha.

Waiting till warranties up and getting the monte mapped to 130bhp would be a better idea IMO.

Yeah i know i was thinking about the remap but 25 extra bhp for £400 odd isn't really worth it imo but hope to get this sorted first :)

Was your car bought new or used ?

 

If new or Skoda Approved Used Car with a Warranty then you had no need to go to another Skoda Dealership,.

ie the Supplier.

If it is Mis-Alignment then they will be filling in the Warranty Claim anyway,

that is unless the Supplying Dealership already know that some cars they supply pull to the left, and they think that is acceptable.

Why are they saying it's not warranty work, if there's something wrong with the way the car drives then it needs to be inspected then repaired under warranty if it's a fault/defect.

If it has been caused by hitting a kerb or from flying over speed humps then rightly so, it's not warranty work but if it's a known fault then it has to be treated as such.

Because nothing's ever a known fault. Even if it is, it isnt.

When I took mine back they told me it was a known fault and explained the normal course of action, a couple of alignment checks, test drive then new Pirelli tyres.

Hey presto, that's exactly what happened, it's not perfect but it's better than it was so I'm happy, it seams the dealer didn't want to know as he didn't purchase it from them, they spat their dummies out.

I would always take it back to the supplying dealer as they have a duty of care to look after you, or they should anyway!!!

Might be worth a read of this, I have seen it before somewhere but couldn't find the page I saw with pictures.

You should get the idea after reading from the third paragraph onwards. Might not be of much use on part worn tyres, but possibly swapping left to right if they are Asymmetric (not directional)

They said that wheel alignment isn't covered under warranty and that's the next step after the test drive, i spoke to the original dealer who told me on the phone that the car hasn't had any previous wheel alignment done to it, will give that a read as well

How many miles on the car mate? What year is it?

So was it a Dealers Demonstrator that they had for 3 months, and hence they should have noticed before selling it on that it 

'Pulled to the Left',

only they could not bother correcting that because  'They all do that'.

(which is because lazy Dealerships accept that from Skoda CZ and just expect Buying Customers to as well.)

I take it that this factory setup 'feature' is a random thing then?

 

Mines a 2014 and the geo is spot on

 

Personally I would just take it to an alignment specialist with the Hunter system and cough up and move on. I know sometimes its tempting to take the fight to a dealer but on something like this then it's often better to just save the stress

One thing I'd like to add. We bought a second hand Roomster, now just pexd for a Fabia. I noticed the steering wheel was out of alignment, though the car didn't seem to pull. I had a tracking adjustment and though it seemed better wasn't right. Our local dealer, not the supplying dealer said the same thing re the approved warranty, it doesn't cover alignment. I could have taken it back to the supplying dealer under Soga, but looked around for a wheel alignment place. Many charge £90 for a check on a hunter machine, even if the majority of things it checks can't be adjusted on most vehicles. I found one that charged £30 for a check and adjust which solved the problem instantly.

 

Oh, and alignment problems can occur early on because of potholes. I had a brand new Superb in 2012, and that winter hit a pothole near where I worked. The steering wheel took an offset, and an alignment adjustment fixed it, so I could hardly insist it was done under warranty. So I can see why dealers might be reluctant.

You are absolutely correct there… BUT, In reality, anything can be down to the owner, not the build. Clutches should last ages but can quite easily be wreaked. Is that down to warranty? Turbo's too, can get abused and fail due to the driver so should a dealer be forced to fork out to replace that?  The list will be endless but usually, the onus is on the dealer to repair a fault or prove its not a fair claim. this will be quite tricky, hence obvious things like tracking, etc will NOT be covered at least past a few short months/miles.

Clutches are an interesting one. I had a clutch fail twice on a previous car. First one at 12 months or so, second one within 3 years. For the first it was quite straightforward as it was clearly a hydraulic failure. The second, they initially told me was not warranty, because they could smell the burned clutch. However I knew I'd been careful, and the burning smell was due to it slipping, which was the fault. When they got it apart, there was an oil leak, so again it was fixed for free. So for things like that, its fairly easy to say whether its a fault or abuse, and act accordingly. That was on a 1.9Tdi 130 in an Audi. I still wonder if the hydraulic fluid from the first failure caused the oil seal to fail....

So i went in today as i was booked in, left the car with them and they said they will try swapping tyres around and see if it makes a difference then wheel re-alignment etc, maybe new tyres etc and said they will call me in a day or two when they have fixed it, meanwhile i'm "speeding" along in a Citigo, nice little car but what a downgrade from my monte and so much slower but oh well at least it's a bit more fuel efficient. Also the heated seats are pretty good, would have been nice to get them in my fabia but oh well haha
