Speeding tickets

Featured Replies

The people running the course told me it didn't need to be declared as it was a spent offence same as the 3 points disappearing off your licence after However many years

The Admiral group insurers specifically ask if you've been on a speed awareness course and you must answer honestly, I'm not aware of any others doing so yet though.

T'was the very company. As you point out if they ask you have to answer honestly or risk invalidating your insurance, if they don't ask then you're under no obligation to tell them. Looks like some things they tell you on these courses are a load of ********. When SWMBO did hers one bloke didn't return after a tea break and the woman running the course said his case would now have to go to court because he failed to complete tne course and he was then no longer eligible for the fixed penalty & 3 points option.

That would be right, you have to be present for the whole course, and they do clearly warn you of that in the paperwork

Yup, a bloke did the teabreak scarper on the course I attended.  After rollcall, we were told he would be kicked back to the regular programming.

We were also warned at the start of the morning session.

We had nobody abscond, but we did have a late arrival who entered the room 10 minutes into the course.   He was not allowed to join and told it was likely he would now receive the three points and fine.   You do not get a refund for the course you weren't allowed to join either.

Double whammy :)

It warns you clearly in the paperwork that you MUST be there on time

They can hardly blame the bloke for driving slowly to the course lol!

No, but that means he should have had the sense to allow more time for his journey.

They asked us to come up with "Excuses for being over the limit" So I said "I would be late for my speed awareness course" and the person on our table gave it as one of our reasons then the guy from the next table said that they weren't liars so would have just said fair cop. To be honest, she did tell us that the excuses could be as outrageous as we wanted. We had no quitters or late people in our course either.

I would have liked to know if the guy that was driving the Mini that was behind me at the time was in that room. I bet that p155ed him off when he followed me past that cop van at 72.
