1.9 TDI Thermostat life ?

Featured Replies

My Roomster is due for its 2nd cambelt change this year (8 years old), a chance to follow my guide again. I did change the water pump last time and will be doing the same again. But I was thinking since I drain the system and replace the coolant, should I change the thermostat this time round ?

I've not had any temperature issues, I'm just thinking as the system is drained anyway, the car is 8 years old should I just change the thermostat while I'm at it. A new thermostat is only about £24 so I'm tempted just to stick a new one in while I'm doing the work, but am I just being silly ?

So what you think ?    Change the thermostat being 8 years old or just leave it alone ?

There is no right or wrong answer to your question.

But myself I go by the old saying  " If it ain,t broke don't fix it!"
