Not for me though,

Mum,

Wanted something that most cars don't have, space, auto (my insistance after 2 £1200 clutches in 7000m)

So!

2012 1.8 DSG SE, 18k miles, xenons, park assist, sensors back and front and all the bits I ain't discovered yet,

£11k and a good px on the Toyboata,

I drove it before she signed for it to make sure it was all good, I have to say I loved it and could see myself wanting one, but! I love the Insignia still, can I split em? no I can't, I like the Insignia seat better, the not so tunnel inside of it, but I have to say, WHAT A F**KING GREAT CAR!

I'll await the first time it steps out of line ready to take full blame,

The Toyboata I insisted she took ext warranty on, looking back over 3 years she's had brakes and clutches and neither are warranty items, mum said "you made me buy it and it's in the draw unused" I said, "after 3 years and no claims what does that say about a Toyota?"

Can't break in on some ppl,

Anyway, I loved that T27 Avensis and the Superb is imo a beautiful elegant automobile, I'm hoping it can live up to the Avensis, I wanted her to have a Rapid, Octavia was out of budget, I feel knowing our mum the Rapid would not have measured up, when I look at what's on this Superb over standard I think I've bagged her a Roller for Kia money, i'm quite jealous even though the car wouldn't be suitable for me 2.0 CR DSG SE upwards, it just ouzes class tbh.

This is so wrong, it's her car and I'm the only one getting excited about it's arrival next week, bleedin thing had more like an L&K spec minus the full leather, not sure the dealer realised this either tbh, the salesman did but the manager who nobody ever sees who does the money hasn't realised the huge spec on this one,

Must get the finger excercising tools out, gonna be a busy time on the buttons showing her what does what,I think,

I can see it now she'll be larging it around like she's Penelope Pitstop next week.

Finally, welcome to the gang :)

Well not me "yet" lol, the VX is still doing it right but I have been thinking ahead tbh and the Sup 3 could well be my last big extravagance when it arrives,

Been thinking of going brand new next time and running the car 5 years rather than 3,

I did enjoy the test drive if I'm honest, to get that DSG under my toes again was nice, nuns crutch I believe is the term for describing it and as it was late when I got to drive it the combo of the xenons and the cool relaxed green/white illuminations added on top of the graceful glide was rather like stretching out on a good sofa.

Well I think you've just convinced yourself there :)

Get yourself out of that cramped vauxhall, and into a proper car.

Get yourself out of that cramped vauxhall, and into a proper car.

Ha ha, lol, it's not actually cramped like old Cav's and Vec's were tbh,

I did give it some thought and the pending arrival of the MKIII and the love of the Insignia made me sit back down again,

I'm going to have a proper eye over mums one when it arrives next week and get that full "do I or don't I like this" experience,

Oh, and the other reason, me is skinters right now so prudence is being followed for the first time ever by me, normally it's a gut reaction and to hell with it but things for me are a bit 1980 right now in the flow dept.

Well it arrived today and it's a beauty,

Sadly mum doesn't match it, silly me tried to explain how the twindoor works,

"look mum you don't have to slam the boot, just let it drop and the car seats it itself" Where? " here look watch the boot lid shut fully" Where? "mum  you can hear the motor pulling the lid shut" I can't! " look I'll do it again for you" Oh don't bother,

Looks like the panels will resemble the last car, the one that was a bad car cos it had 2 clutches and brake pads and servicing, 2 of which are driver technique and the 3rd a given,

I can't wait for this one to go wrong, she's not driven it yet but it's a much better and more reliable  car than the last one apparently,

I'll time stamp this now for later, I've told her to take extended warranty once the Skoda and sellers warranties run out, I'll bet she doesn't and then something huge in the £3k bracket lets go, I'll say I told you to, she'll say "no you didn't" I seriously think she's going nuts tbh, we've collided today over the builder, he's lifted £500 off her to do her gutterings, the £500 is for materials, it came from Wickes and I can see £200 tops worth of materials, this was 2 mths ago and he can't do it cos of the weather right now but he hasn't forgot her, I'm guessing he will return as his name is all over the delivery but I shudder at the thought of how much labour he's going to ask for, as usual dippy has no idea how much she just handed the cash over for materials, lets not mention there's nothing wrong with the old gutter but do you think she'll accept that,

She has no concept that that wortld of honest people she comes from doesn't really exist anymore, sure there are pockets of honest people still but most I meet would skin a turd.

Well apparently it's had a SW update for a misfire last year and soon after a new mechatronic unit and clutch pack :dull:

15k all this was done at, squeaky bum time as the last thing I need is the phone ringing to the sound of it's broken again I should never have listened to you, my Passat also had a new mech unit before I bought it and behaved reasonably in the time I had it so maybe it'll be ok, the dry clutch thing worries me now though having seen the complaints about the warping under heat issues,

Having said that the condition it's in aka brand new leads me to believe the last owner was a fusspott who'd take it in at any given time it didn't feel quite right etc, I got her a DSG as I felt it was the only option where she can't ride the clutch manually and no torque converter to worry about, time will tell I guess.

Brilliant,

1st phone call,

How do I open the petrol flap,

I dunno mum how do you open........

Right, unlock the car and then on the rear edge of the flap push and the spring load will unload and the flap will open,

Nope nothing,

Me goes to online manual, after searching for the function we try again,

Nope still not open,

Eventually it opens,

You didn't say the left hand side did you,

How may rear ends of a fuel flap are there ffs!

Time for her to stop driving ?

And to get her into that Home ?

  :p   :D

Stop driving would be a good option but she lives too far away from me to do without a car,

She isn't going to be put in one of those, I wouldn't do that to her, if push comes to shove I'll move her over here with us, ideally I'm hoping one of the kids might want to go live with her once they are adults, 2 birds 1 stone in a way.
