Eibach'ed Up!

Hullo

Very nearly took a mate to Leicester for him to look at a special 250HP Toyota Celica he fancied. Didn't due to him not being able to raise

Excellent work Jason

Welcome to the club mate :)

How good is our convoy going to look next friday?! :D

Thanks

I forgot to say that the stiffness in a straight line isn't too bad. When it hits ruts and cracks in the road it does make a bit of a bang, but along undulations it still feels quite "bouncy" if you will, but not in a bad way.

PS: An interesting little querk showed up. When re-tightening the wheel bolts the wheel itself seemed to move around in the arch, despite it being on the ground. It seems the Skoda design of bushes means the wheels were able to move about a bit. It looked well weird when it happened the first time because I thought my mate could have broken something with all the crowbars and lump hammers being used. Thankfully, not!

Matt - you posted whilst I was typing and I think, "damn good!" Just need some other cars now.

Yes we need more cars for the convoy!

Maybe a convoy so large, we would need a couple of these to escort us!! :D240602-a-sko%2B.jpg

Jason, is a suspension alignment check in the offing, or isn't it necessary following the spring change?

Indeed, might be wise to get it done! Should get mine checked as it's been up and down since it was last done.

Jason,

I am glad you are happy...this weekend should be a good chance to stretch her legs. However I'm bemused...

I've made my car my own and I don't think I'll be able to let him go.

Him? Time for a sunday night poll.

Good to see you got it done at last Jason. Did say the fronts were a bit of a mare to do though! Mine will get one last hammering next week before hopefully getting chopped in. ;)

Am coming up on the friday night now and staying with a mate in Rossett. Passenger seat might now be taken. Will be up there late on friday though.

It's gotta be a him with all that grunt & torque at my foot - I can't think of my car as being a woman really - it's something to do with the diesel... Anyway, I rarely refer to my beast as a he/she normally.

With regards to suspension alignment, where should I get that done. My local friendly dealer is to be avoided now that I've fitted these springs - There's a Skoda dealer in Newton Abbot which is about another 20 miles down to Plymouth from Exeter - I may go there as I also need the tracking checked (l/h tyre was found to be scrubbing on the inside, and the car does gently pull to the left when I release the steering) :(

Jason,

I would have thought any decent-sized tyre place (ATS, National etc.) would be able to do an alignment check for you.

Cheers,

Best to find a specialist tyre fitting centre or garage which has optical alignment equipment capable of checking all 4 wheels. Adjusting the tracking - which is what most tyres centres do using a simple optical gauge - is a fairly pointless exercise if other suspension settings need changing as well. Jon posted suspension geometry settings in this thread which is worth a read.

ATS refused to do my tracking because "only the dealer has the correct tools"

I'll give a place in Okehampton a shot that says it has a laser alignment checking device.
