How did you manage to wreck the door card?

Get a stanley knife, and cut open the (surprisingly soft) plastic lock mechanism shell.

Once open youll see the gears that spin to lock and shoot the dead bolt. Get 2 small allen keys. Use one to hold the big gear you can see, and the other to turn it. I cant remember which direction. Its spring loaded, so need to hold it, thus 2 keys. Once its wound all the way back it should release the lock.

Then strip the whole thing out, note the thread count on outer pull handle cable (wont open if you get it wrong on reassembly)

Put a less than 30quid ebay pattern lock mech in and reassemble. Check the thread count and function before you close the feckin door though...

Hi is the inner panel to be cut out with Stanley knife so I can access the mechanism please?  I'll never get another door card for this l&k trim ffs

What?

God no!

The front edge of the grab handle pulls off. Open the big screws that reveals.

Then undo the screw up the latch handle and speaker.

Only cutting needed is to open the actual lock mechanism case

Oh ok  I did take the grab handle off but as you know there are concealed screws around the edge of the door and can't get a driver in to get them off ? Not sure of best way please?

You can get the 2 torx screws off the bottom edge, under the door pocket.

Make sure you have everything else undone too.

Then take out the seat base to give more room.

Put both hands on the door pocket, and take a few deep breathes.

Then, when ready, pull hard and fast straight out. The whole door card will pop off the retaining clips. Then unhook the door pull and slide the door card up out of the window recess.

If you get it right, you wont even have a broken clip. You then unscrew the other torx from around the frame once the door is open and pop them back onto the door card before putting it all back together.

Oh brilliant mac thanks for that I'll give a go tomorrow weather permitting.  I tried the banging by the lock on the door trick and the wd40 spray everywhere but not budging so I took handle off but was unsure after that

Sounds like a good plan mate I'll let you know

Hi Mac still haven't had time to do it.  I see there's no torx screws along the bottom edge just two screws at the back edge and two on the front edge. No way I can get a torx screwdriver in there so I'm waiting on a disc cutter that goes on drill attachment only 3 quid off eBay.  I'll have a go at just cutting the heads off and replace them with new ones when I get panel off. It should arrive maybe tomorrow?

They might be regular screws on the bottom, its a while since i did it.

But the card should yank off without any cutting

Well very strange?  I got the little disc cutter it's only 2" in diameter so when I fitted on drill I couldn't get the angle enough to get to the star bolts on side of door as chuck was in the way (waste of 2 quid ) I did however try to get the seat belts cover panel off and was going to ease a part of the rubber gasket so I could get a screwdriver torx in there but whilst doing that I heard a click? ???

The door unlocked?  I opened it and took the torx screws out luckily I didn't have to damage anything as there were torx screws at bottom but on face of panel so totally concealed

I sprayed with wd40.  Tried lock a few times and working fine

I shut door and all work fine on the fob now ?

So result ! Still haven't a clue how it went back into operation?

You really really really dont need to cut anything....

For next time it goes..

I was surprised I got this job done in 1.5 hours , the pic shows the cut away plastic with the motor removed , it really does take 2 minutes if you have a multi purpose saw ( Fein saw )  but you could do it with a chisle .The door card really does pull off quite easily once the 3 screws are undone, just give it a hard yank .

Re the door handle . Remember to take off the steel wire door pull that goes to the handle as there isn't one on the new lock you have to change it over  . To release that you have to keep turning the lock screw on the end of the door until the small cover wiggles out, you can then see the end of the wire located in the handle, you just lever that out carefully and extract the old lock.

The 2 bolts holding the lock are Spline grooved  I had to borrow one of these wrench tips. To get the new lock in you have to take off the door plunger tip/ knob, to do this you move the mech towards the back of the door and it will then pull out , once that is done you can take out the old lock and remove the wire from it's locating hole.
