Bluetooth pairing problems

Featured Replies

I have just bought a second hand Skoda Octavia with Bolero audio system. I am having problems pairing my Samsung siii mini as it says 'Phone not compatible'. I have also tried with a Nokia Lumia 620, a HTC and a Blackberry with only the Blackberry being successful. Is there something I am doing wrong? I am about to replace my phone what do I need to look for in order to have my phone connect?

Thanks

How old is the car? It might be due to an old BT module. If you check under one of the seats the module should be there. If so please find and post the part number which should be of the form xxx 035 730 with a possible suffix letter too.

I am surprised a Samsung doesn't pair though, is it rooted by any chance?

The S3 does though so I presume the S3 mini does?

Thanks to your replies. The car is 2010 plate. My phone isn't rooted. I have looked on the internet and found info saying the s3, s3 lte, s4 and s4 mini are compatible but no mention of the s3 mini. Which phones are compatible as it's difficult finding a list that includes new phones? Would I better upgrading the module and if so is this possible and expensive? I really only want it to play music via bluetooth, not to fussed about using it for calls.

Thanks for your help

Its probably cheaper to update the module than the phone as new premium ones can be had for less than £100 on eBay.  They are just plug and play although some coding may be required to get full functionality.

Assuming you have maxidot (given you have been able to pair with the older module)?, then you could go for a 3c8 035 730 D module.  If no maxidot, then you are looking at 7P6 035 730 J or above.  Both will work with all phones.

Good point Mike

To get premium working on my HTC one M7, I ended up rooting it and installing a third party app. Looking at their site, depending exactly which S3 mini you have it may be compatible: http://www.android-rsap.com/compatibility.html

Galaxy S III Mini GT-I8190 is a yes.

Galaxy S III Mini Value Edition GT-I8200 is a no.

Assuming you're comfortable with computers, it might be worth looking into rooting your phone and installing it. Just make sure you read everything twice and have a backup of any important data.

Thanks for your help, I am due a phone upgrade and would like ideally to get one that would connect. I am finding it difficult to find a list of compatible phones. Was thinking of Samsung s4. I assume the Sony Xperia M2 or Nokia Lumia phones won't?

Thanks

I don't believe any windows phones (8 or 8.1) support rsap natively, as I don't know anything about WP I can't say if there is a 3rd party solution to help. This gives the supported profiles for WP: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/how-to/wp8/connectivity/bluetooth-faq

Same situation for for iPhones, I don't believe any support rsap and I have no idea if it can be added to a jailbroken iPhone, I suspect not.

As for android, based from the site I linked, the S4 appears to support it - it may change with software revisions but I'd expect the rsap app to fix it if Samsung remove it. Not sure about the Xperia M2, it might need a particular baseband which has support built in.

If you check out the rsap forums they will probably tell you more...

I think modern smartphones are dropping support as it disrupts the data connection which most rely on. With the 3C8035730D and 3C8035730E modules, it will connect to 3G for you and broadcast a WiFi hotspot in the car so the phone can still have data giving the best experience with a rsap enabled phone in my opinion.

Langers

I see there is an E module now then?  Hadn't seen that before.

Adam

I think the E revision started appearing late last year, I have seen very little info on it but at least one source suggested it was a software update on the D rev.

I've seen one or two on ebay from the usual Polish sellers.

What is the best sdhc card to use in the Bolero stereo. I have read that it can take a while to load in songs on a large capacity one. I was thinking of getting a 32gb class 10 or is it better to get a smaller one?

thanks

Depending on exactly which Bolero unit you have, this may be fixable with a firmware update from a dealer.

Little more information here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/241435-bolero-whats-the-current-firmware/

Assuming you have 1Z0035156F then it looks like fw 54 should be nice and quick where as earlier versions don't do so well. Not sure if you can find out the fw version from the headunit or if you'll need access to vcds to find out.

Sorry to hijack!

Recently bought a Scout 2010, with BT. iPhone 5s 'not compatible'.

Was surprised as I also have a vRS 2010 with BT and my iPhone connects with no issues. Shark retrofitted the BT on the vRS though, in 2012.

So, is the 2010 (OEM) system in the Scout too old for a 5s, or is it more complicated than that? Excuse the technical ignorance!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Dunc

It is quite possibly an old 5n0 rSap only unit which wont connect to an iPhone. Check the module under the seat and if part number is 5n0... a/b/c then you need to upgrade the module.

If I am right thrn you will have maxidot in which case you can upgrade to a 3c8 035 730 d or above unit for less than £100 on eBay.

Adamal, many thanks. I do have Maxidot.

I'll check the module and take it from there.

Cheers.

I upgraded my phone to a Samsung S4 and although I can connect via Bluetooth, my mobile data disconnects. I have read that this is the case when in Remote sim access. Is there anyway to use gps on my phone at the same. I have also read about connecting via 'Handsfree' not 'Premium' but I don't have these options instead I have 'Headset' and 'Modem' and another option 'GPRS'. Car is Octavia Elegance 2010

Is there anway of doing this?

Would be hugely grateful of any help

You have an old rsap only module probably which is premium (but stops data).

An updated module will allow handsfree connection or rsap premium connection with wifi hotspot allowing data as well as premium functions.

I suspect the part number on the module under your seat is 5n0 035 730 plus a b or c??? If I am right you have maxidot and can go for the updated 3c8 035 730 d or above module. Search the part number on eBay, cost less than a 100 quid these days (which I accept may not feel cheap, but is compared to prices in the past!).

Yes the 7p6 is a handsfree only module. Although it is in yr older car Mike it is actually a newer module than the 5n0 in yr newer car. For preFL this is about the best you can do. James has a FL (being 2010) which opens up the possibilty of the newer modules I referred to.

The texts going through to the car and not the phone is normal and still the way it works with these newer ones in rSap mode.

I get it - yr just a serial retrofitter.... said the kettle to the pot.

Hello guys,

I have a Motorola Moto G 2014 (LTE/4G) phone, and a now a face-lift Skoda Octavia Laurin + Klement estate, 59-reg.

My car certainly has bluetooth functionality, has the buttons on the MFSW, and if I press the dial button there's a lady that says that there isn't a a phone connected.

1). how do I remove the previous owners 3-mobile phone names that are still in there?

2). despite my car seeing my phone, as standard it doesn't get as far as pairing, instead the car grumbles and says the phone isn't compatible.

3). if I install trial versions of https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android_rsap.BluetoothRSAP&hl=en_GB ("Bluetooth SIM Access (Trial)" by android-rsap.com), my car sees my phone, and then moves on to giving me my pairing code (something like "0000111122223333"). Having keyed all that in, it then ultimately fails again with my car complaining its not compatible.

I've asked my local dealer to help, but if anyone on here has any further information or help, I'd very much appreciate knowing.

Kind regards,

Wayne.
