DSG slipping with hard acceleration

Featured Replies

Sorry for another question on DSG but I have noticed that when I accelerate hard the revs jump up quickly to 2500-3000 but the gearbox does not instantly react. It seems to slip whilst looking for a lower gear then takes off. Can be a bit worrying when you are trying to overtake someone. Is this normal. I have had the car 6 months and never noticed before. Obviously its cold at the moment can this have an effect. I notice it on journey to work which is only 5 miles so does not have a great chance to warm up.

I think it's normal tbh, VAG sells this seamless dream with the DSG but it's not seamless in the first 3 gears anyway, you could get the oil level checked or have it serviced if it's due, cold oil won't help either as it will have thickened and won't be working at 100% on a cold engine until it's warmed up,

Generally if the DSG is going seriously south you'll get limp, lights and the flashing nimbers on the dash.

Thanks Supurbia, it's booked in for a service in a couple of weeks so I will get them to check the oil.
