my sierra

Featured Replies

ever since i gt the sierra it hasn't worked. not worried as it is gonna get sorted soon properly :)

but the question i have only recently come about is that the clutch doesn't release, as in it is constantly engaged. anyidea's on what it could be and whether i could perform a simple fix right now so the thing is drivable??

any help appreciated :)

The best remedy

A gallon of woof and a swan vesta.

thanks for that tesco boy :P

maybe i shouldhave been more specific, can anyone suggest a possible fix so that the things works as its supposed to rather than suggestions for destroying it :)

So you have no drive or you cant change gear?

So you cant drive and you cant change gear

Sounds like Bengie to me ;)

er, you can change gear with the engine off but you can never disengage the clutch :)

Hate to sound patronising, but beat it with a hammer!

Did the car stand for a long time before you got it. Both plates could be rusted together. If so you need to find a way to exert some force in an attempt to separate them. Starting the car in 1st with the handbrake applied might help, whilst you put one foot on the clutch and the other on the foot brake at the same time.

Does the clutch fork move underneath?

the car was working fine then just wouldn't release the clutch whilst sat in traffic whilstmy mate was on his way to work one morning so sadly not just stuck plates. but i may try that anyway :)

never know.

haven't been under it yet mate so don't know what does and doesn't move when playing with the clutch pedal

Release bearing could be seized too I think.

that did nothing but drain the battery a bit :(

but whilst the engine is running if you depress the clutch pedal you get a funny high pitch whine/speak coming from under the car(obviously from the clutch) :rubchin:

Blocks off wood between the plates next time you leave it.

It happens with Land Rovers too.

nope, screwed thrust bearing apparently :(

have to leave it till the v6 gets fitted :(

The thrust bearing was on it way out has probably eaten away at the pressure plate fingers till they either broke or bent. You might be looking at a new pressure plate as well.

Thats what meant
