Wheel fitment for spare

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a definitive list of what alloys will fit the front of my MK3 vRS.

I am wanting a spare as over the new year I got stranded and the dealer are quoting £211 for a spacesaver kit and tools

So will a mk2 vrs alloy fit 18",  Seat leon mk1 cupra 18", Audi A4 / A5 etc? will a mk5 golf alloy fit - 17 / 18"?

What are the fitment details of the original alloy - 5 x 100, 5 x 112?

These are going much cheaper (second hand) on eBay and the condition of the alloy doesn't really matter to much.  As long as the tyre has 3mm or more thats fine too.

Thanks

The wheel PDC 5x112 for the MK3 octy the vRS come standard with 18" but you can fit 17" on to it .

So you can fit MK2 octy superb MK2 and yeti wheel as well as golf MK 5/6/7 wheel and so on

Will 17" go over the front brakes?

Yes 17" will but it tight

Yes but you'd get a second hand full size alloy and a jack and brace for that cost.  The vrs space saver spare thread has all the details including links to a site where you search by wheel and find all the cars that use it.  Iirc, mk 5 and later golf gti, Audi TT and a3, seat Leon cupra and few others

Yeah for £5 more I got a complete set of a3 wheels in pretty good nick!

Most 5x112 vag 17" wheels will fit but just be careful of the offset which should be around et50 a few mm difference shouldn't matter for a spare

Wow, complete set for £100 was a good buy, I'm guessing they are 17" for use as winter wheels? I found 18" were a fair bit more but was willing to pay as I didn't want to be restricted to 50 mph in the event of using it. The going rate for a used but useable 18" seemed to be around £60 or £65 for one. I spent about 3 weeks searching, bid a bit lower and missed out on one or two then got the right size, including et51, for £65 delivered iirc. It is a seat wheel... Err a Draco I think, from a Leon fr.

With how often this comes up a group buy could work as sets of 4 new 18" wheels can be bought for about £320.

Scissor jacks are £10 or £12 on Amazon. I bought a 2 tonne rated one for a pound or so more, glad I didn't get the cheapest, that one still seemed rather flexy the time I tested it before shoving it in the boot.  Shame that a bottle jack wouldn't fit under a car if it had a flat, they seem much sturdier than scissor jacks.

Yeah mine were for winter use. Got a bargain as the bloke had been messed about by a few people previously.

I do have a spare 17" Monte Carlo from my old Passat I need to get shot of

Good quality mechanical scissor jacks are useful and often more reliable than a hydraulic jack but often narrow so the car has to be well chocked.
