Who has fitted puddle lights to their fabia?

Featured Replies

I've seen a few guides and 32KOFDATA thread and guide but i still think i'm gunna need some help. Any tips from anyone or anyone near Southampton (South UK) area that has done it and could give me a hand? Pics some fairly straight forward but some bits look quite hard, thanks

  • Id personally solder it and use heat shrink over the soldered joint. Wouldnt dream of just twisting wires together personally

  • when i fitted my puddle lights i crimped my connections from the new wiring install + led lamp assemblies as it was a given that itd be permanent the moment i drilled holes in the wing mirrors , also

  • Odd. i linked my gallery must be a dodgy link lol!

I fitted white LED strips under the door card which light up the floor and red LED strips on the outside edge of the door for safety as there is nothing to indicate to other drivers that your door is open when it's dark. So, not true puddle lights as they are not in the mirror housing but they work. I can't remember where the thread is but I will look.

I did find it tricky but looking back it wasn't too bad and totally worth it.

I fitted mine a while ago. 32K's guide is nice and probably brighter to be honest but i think my way worked quite well as too :P

was very easy fit, unfortunately i dont have a pic of it in the dark oddly enough but they give off plenty of light :)

any questions about cable pulling ect lemme know!

Ahh, how easy is it to fit? What tools are required?

I always tend to think the light is on the wrong side of the door if it's fixed in the mirror, saying that it looks really good!

It's been a while since I did the lights. If I remember rightly I used trim removal tools, a torx screwdriver and a wire coat hanger. That was it, apart from the tools needed to do the wiring. I don't possess many specialist tools.

It is a wee bit tricky getting the wires where you need them. From the interior light to the outside of the car is easy, it's getting the wire into the door and into place. It took me about 2 hrs to do one side, including front and rear footwell. I've been unable to do the other side as yet due to ill health but I've run the wires to the footwell on the passenger side just need to get it out to the door.

Oh okay, is there a detailed thread i can follow because i prefer that instead of the side mirror leds...

The only thread I know of is the one I linked earlier, it's not too detailed though.

I would fit the leds but i don't even know where to start...plus i need loads and loads of pictures to understand what i need to do :D

If you struggle mate I'm often down in Southampton when I've recovered, and don't mind helping out

I thought I was like that too but it's pretty easy once you get going. The only pics I have are the ones I posted. JayMitchell has had his full interior out and has put puddle lights in the bottom of his door. In a different place than mine but using the same method to get the wires where you need them. He has taken loads of pics and maybe able to help you out visually. Shame you can't tag people on a post, you should pm him.
