Modding the Rapid Sport

Featured Replies

Where to stop? I've got the bug!

Eibachs done, stubby aerial done, vinyl roof appt made, headlamp bulbs ordered, heko's bought.

Next? -

LED sidelight and DRL

LED number plate bulbs

My plate to go on car (nice plates already received in post)

Double din, green back lit, head unit

Black front splitter

Remap via Revo or Shark

Find someone who can dial stage and maxi dot speedo it

De- chrome the rear

Monte Carlo grille

You could go on and on.

Very rare for me, but I have decided to keep this car either until just about 3 years old or to end of contract at 42 months but with the reassurance of an extended warranty. It's just too good and too cheap. £170 PCM doesn't get you anything bigger, more fun ( relatively speaking), and so on.

I'm loving it. Doubt very much if there will be any equity in it at the end so might just end up handing it back at. 42 months. Certainly won't have it longer than that but to me (who has averaged a new skoda every 3 months since March 14) this is a big deal!

I love my car!

At the end of 42 months won't you have to return it to standard before handing it back?

I thought this too as it's not really your car unless you pay the balance at the end. I've downloaded Skodas copy of there checks they do when you hand it back but tbh says nothing about modifications [emoji6]

I removed the badges from mine and fitted the Hekos - took about 5 minutes to do all 4 and I didn't need to use any of the clips

I'm planning window tints and might go for the vinyl roof while it's there.

I've got my own plate but I'm taking advantage of the snobbery value (if there's such a thing as an owner of a Skoda) of having a 64 plate so don't plan on putting mine on until the 15 plate come out

A few years down the line once the finance is done I'll probably get myself bigger wheels, lower it and get a decent sound system

Major problems aside, I'm planning on keeping mine for 10 years so am happy to spend a bit on it

I always say this when I buy a car, and somehow I manage to change again. The Citigo lasted exactly 2 years.

This time it's more serious, no job and on a pension so I have to reign in the finances. Hope my Toledo survives a few years.

Mods for me so far....

LED number plate lights

LED side lights

Eibachs

Black grille surround

De badged

Stubby aerial (in post)

Private plates

Number plate surrounds.

Planned...

LED DRLs

Revo Remap

Smoked front fogs

I'm not quite that bad - I usually say I'll keep a car for 5 years (as I usually buy on 5 years finance). I usually stick to this (both the 106 and the Rover 75 were retained for 5 years each). I had planned to keep the Citroen for 4 years, then give it to my mum. However, the double turbo failure put paid to both of those ideas. I would like to retain the Rapid for more than 5 years, mostly because of the financial hiding I took on the Citroen. But, I have to say having since driven both a Fabia and an Octy - I think it'll end up being another 5-year car change (but switching to another Skoda). I like the high driving position of the Fabia a lot, and the Octy is just so much more comfortable than the Rapid.

That's not to say I don't like the Rapid - I do, but there are other cars in the range that have aspects I prefer to those on the Rapid (and visa versa).

Coming along nicely.

My mods (and planned mods) are a lot more understated than yours, and I've got a lot of stuff piled up waiting to go on the car, but which can't go on while its this cold as the items are stick-on and won't bond in these temperatures.

Done:

Hidden 12v power socket behind dash

Garmin fixed sat nav mount on dashboard

Boot storage cubbies

Boot divider tray

Phillips Extreme White headlight bulbs

Audi A3 Alloys and Winter Tyres

To do:

Heko wind deflectors on all four doors (bought, awaiting fitting)

Stainless steel sill trims (bought, awaiting fitting)

Stainless steel boot lip protector (bought, awaiting fitting)

Chrome boot lid trim piece (bought, awaiting fitting)

Front and rear mud flaps (bought, fitting this week)

Tinted rear windows

New non-dealer number plates (bought, awaiting fitting)

Briskoda sticker (bought, awaiting fitting)

Done:

Eibach lowering springs (it's in now having them fitted)

Vinyl grille

Chrome kick strips

Columbus Nav fitted

Front and rear mudflaps

To be done:

Revo or Shark tuning box

Vinyl roof

De-badge

LED DRLs

Ciko can you share with us where you got them from please

Ding Dong Billy, you never fail m8. Many thanks

Have you bought them and have you done anything with the dipped beam ?

Not Bought yet but they are on the list. Only done sidelights with some eBay cheapos and not happy with the results so going for cree sidelights and will eventually change the dipped. Doubt I'll go LED maybe Phillips extreme white (or whatever they call them)

How did you get on with fitting the Heko's?

3 of mine fitted perfectly but the drivers window one will not shove up enough leaving the ugly weave on show.  I've fitted them before to another car and didn't use the clips but instead used more stickies (number plate pads) - i used this method here too but with less success.

I started off with the driver's door and managed to get it in no problem. Oooooh matron

I am booked in to get the tints done this weekend - the darkest ones possible

I am also going to be sending my V5 and the retention document away this weekend so I can put my private plate on the car.

Well that's the tints done and it looks really good. I didn't bother with the half hearted tints that you can still see through and went for the full black limo jobby.

It does look very nice, especially with the black B pillar trim. Just a pity you can't do the fronts anymore

I have also informed my insurance company and the premium rose by a grand total of £0.

The V5 and the retention document were posted today as well and I already have the new plates that I ordered online.

I fear I may have caught the modding bug as I had to stop myself going round to the local alloy wheel specialist on the way home

I would like to do somethinng about the aerial. My last two cars were Honda Civics and they didn't have a visible aerial. I have never listened to the radio in any car I have owned since about 2008 when I had DAB in my Vectra but that was pre-USB sticks. I'm going to see if I can find out what's under there and decide what to do.

Still haven't fitted them - it's too cold still for the glue to stick properly. All of my stick on items (wind deflectors, metal and chrome trim panels etc) are still sat in their boxes waiting to be fitted, and will be staying there for another month or two sadly - fitting any of this stuff now will be a pointless task as they'll just fall off again in next to no time.

It is annoying as I want to get the car finished, but don't want to bodge anything.
