As usual when buying a vehicle I always HPI any prospective purchase. Easiest and cheapest way I've found is the AA website offers five HPI checks for £30, and rather than buying one for £20 and finding it reveals something nasty about the car, then having to pay £20 again for another, I always buy five. So I just bought a new van and I have four AA HPI checks left over. Anyone wants one then it's cost price to me at £6 a go.

 

Check here for the details of what it covers etc. Make your own mind up whether this is something that would be useful for you or not, and whether it gives you enough detail for what you need. I'll run the check through from my end and I'll email you the report PDF when it comes through. Updates are free if you want to add in any details later, such as mileage, V5 document reference number, etc.as long as it's on the same car check and not a new one. You get to check one vehicle for the money.

I'm not sure there's any time limit on them. Never has been before. However, once you use one you have something like 30 days to update it before it expires.
