think i just got lucky

Featured Replies

I ordered a nearly new vrs combi from motorpoint car supermarket. It was on there web site, and got delivered to my local branch for me to go and give it the once only today. And will be collecting it next week once the finances are fully sorted

It's a 4 month old 64 plate diesel with dsg box in race blue

On there web advert they listed the fitted options as:

Metallic paint £360

Satnav £500

After seeing the car in the flesh today. It's actually fitted with:

Columbus nav with colour maxidot display

Canton sound system

Black pack

Full leather with heating

Electric tailgate

Also fitted with the following which I am not sure are standard or options

Height adjustable floor

Cup thing with a slot in the top for your ipod

WELL CHUFFED

Sounds good but, only if they are options you would have picked yourself, optional extras don't add residual value to car, they may make it easier to sell privately but, the Trade don't value them in second hand values.  Ask Glasses Guide if you're not convinced.

Enjoy the car when you get it.

No one should quibble with getting all those additional options for free! Well done, enjoy the car :)

Nice - Sounds like mine which was ex demo just 3 months old with those options (not height adjustable floor though).

Loving mine a month or so on, sure you will to. What colour is it?

Blue. It looks great.

Saw a metallic Brown vRS saloon today. Not so great

regardless of whether they are worth any money..........

you can't argue with free toys :D

and I think you'll definately enjoy the canton and the seats, if nothing else

enjoy

Are you sure?  Don't think the vRS has ever been available in brown... certainly not on the O3 anyway.

Sounds great, the dealer obviously not too switched on in terms of the options included!

Freedom your probably right, but it did have a full width rear reflector instead of the 2 smaller ones.

It's interesting, and I am sure it happens to everyone, that once you get interested in a particular car, you seem to notice a lot more of them. I keep seeing race blue octavia 3s, and think they are vRS, but most aren't.

Could have been Rio Red which has a browny hue?

Looking forward to the photos !!

Rio red is a great colour :-)

Rio red is a great colour :-)

It looks great with the cream interior and the wood trim, quite classy actually.

Its a grower! Depending on the light it can be red, orange or brown, depending what mood takes your fancy!

Motorpoint used to import some of their stock (from Malta if I remember correctly) and I wonder if the OP's car has come spec'd for a different market where the extra kit is standard?

Indeed, Motorpoint did used to import alot of EU spec VAG stuff (mainly MK5 and MK6 Golfs)....I would probably just check to make sure its definitely a UK derived car just to be sure.

Its easily done...I nearly bit the bullet a few years back on a really quite nice Mk5 GTI from a VW main dealer, had lots of soec like xenons, sensors and sunroof....when push came to shove transpired it was a UAE import...previous owner had bought the car whilst living in Dubai and went to the trouble (god knows why as it must have cost a fortune) to import it back into the UK.

As a consequence couldnt be assured it has the appropriate rustproofing on it...also it didnt have an alarm which had a massive impact on insurance. Naturally I walked away.

Thanks for the advice. I am picking it up tomorrow (tues) and hopefully the v5 will tell me where it's come from. I think it's a UK one,I have brought from them before, but I have noticed some strange specs on cars. The seem to get a few southern Irish cars with smaller engines than UK ones due to the Irish vat. However as they only had one Vrs on their site,I think (hope) it's a good one. Pictures to follow.

Ok it's arrived, and it's gorgeous and I definitely got lucky. As I said it's only 4 months old. It came from motorpoint, but was registered to lex. At least that means it's a UK car not an import. Previous owner went mad on the options As follows:

DSG box. Loving it. Should read up on it really,

Race blue paint. Great colour

Black pack. Would of selected that myself

Columbus satnav. Good, still playing with it. But I have watched a DVD for fun

Canton sound. Really good sound, but disappointed that you can't alter much in settings

Powered boot. Great. Dogs love it, but a lot of money for something I can do myself

Bluetooth+ phone boost compartment. I Suppose it's working!

Full leather heated seats. Really really nice

Dual floor boot. Great to hide little things away.

Spare wheel, a must, and would of selected it myself

Self parking. Tried it in Sainsbury carpark. It works fine. But something I can do myself

Sunset glass

It's got the iPod holder thingy, but no rubbish bin in the door

I love the Vrs button sports mode. It's like they had a 10 year old boy in the design studio for a day, and asked him what would you put on a car. And he replied " A BUTTON YOU PRESS THAT MAKES IT SOUND LIKE A RACING CAR". Awesome

I will get the camera out at the weekend

Have you got the full winter pack (heated screen and washer jets) if you have heated seats?

Probably the best option apart from the spare wheel to have at the moment :)

Haven't got a heated screen. But I may have heated nozzles. -4 this morning, and they worked fine. How Can I tell

Its a grower! Depending on the light it can be red, orange or brown, depending what mood takes your fancy!

Having had a rio red vrs for over a year I can testify to how the colour changes. Clean car in summer bright sunlight it has an orangy metallic hue and looks great. Dirty or in poor light it can appear as an almost flat brick red at which point I begin to wonder if I made the correct choice. Serves as encouragement to keep it clean! I don't think i've ever come across a colour that changes so much depending on the light.

When everyone else chooses blue or white it makes a pleasant change though.
