Heated wing mirrors

Featured Replies

I haven't posted for awhile as my 07 Roomster has been behaving since I made a few minor repairs on it. However, I've noticed that my heated wing mirrors don't actually appear to be heating and I've left them on with the engine running during a lunch time break. I left them a good 45 minutes thinking maybe they needed a bit of time etc but the water on them was still there, I got out and touched the mirrors assuming I should feel some degree of heat but they were stone cold. I referred to the owners manual and they don't appear to have a fuse allocation, is this problem likely to be something inside the mirrors themselves that will need a garage to look at? Any advice would be highly appreciated. Ta!

I suspect the problem is probably a fuse. It may be an idea to pull each one individually.

If you can remove the mirror glass without breaking it you could check for corrosion at the connectors on the back of the mirror glass. You could also check for continuity with a multimeter by connecting it to the mirror glass pins with the glass detached but I doubt that would be the problem.

Rear demister switched on?

Is the switch still active, i.e can you still adjust the mirror positions?

Yes the rear de mister works fine. That was one of the things I repaired when I bought the car. I'll try taking all the fuses out and reseating them and the electric mirror adjust works fine too. The mirrors are seated fine as in they aren't coming away from the backing. The wing mirrors don't appear to have their own fuse according to the owners manual fuse box set up. So I'll try re-seating all the fuses but if that doesn't work I'm kind of stumped. As I don't have a multi meter or the confidence to remove the mirrors myself I guess I'll have to ring the garage and ask them to have a nosey.

Does the rear de mister have to be switched on for the heated mirrors to work? If that's the case it doesn't say that in the manual!

No it doesn’t (on a 08MY at least), the mirror position switch when turned to the heated position seems to work independently to the heated rear window.

Neither one of my wing mirrors heat up could it be an issue with the wiring loom? If so does anyone know where it's located?
