Sticking things onto those 'middle sun visor' dots?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I was set to maybe position a windscreen mount for a camera behind the rear view mirror with a view to actually sticking the 3M sticky pad onto the dotted area above the mirror so the camera is positioned just below them. Then I noticed on a couple of his online reviews the guy at TechMoan always says he doesn't stick anything like that onto those dots but he never says why.

Anyway has anyone ever had issues with sticking 3M style pads over these dots? I have visions of them coming off/away from the windscreen if ever the sticky pad is removed leaving a big blank area in the middle of it and it sticking out like a sore thumb.

So am I better off locating the camera lower so the sticky pad is on the windscreen just below that area?

I'm also not sure if it's the original windscreen as it doesn't say Skoda in the corner like all the other windows do so I'm assuming it's had a replacement at some point.

Not had a problem with mine

I stuck mine on the shaded area in my Yeti. The dots appear to be imbedded in the glass as the area is smooth, not bumpy as you would expect.

No problems, have done it loads if times with my car and the work vehicles.

I'd just stick em on it. If it's the 3M foam tape (like number plate tape) when you need to remove it use a bit of dental floss to cut it off then bit of WD40 to remove the residue, just in case that sunblind stuff gets damaged.

The ones on mine are definitely on the surface as you can feel them if you run your finger over them.

My french toll tag is stuck there ,its been on 18 months no problems.

I noticed in other threads some of you actually get the suction cup mounts to stick in that dotted area around the mirror, one question; how ?  I've tried and the suction cup always falls off within 30 seconds.

My sunction cup for the camera is on the dotted area.

It falls off about once a year when the temperature changes then it's fine.
