Octavia 2 VRS TFSI engine problem

Featured Replies

Evening all.

As you may note, I am new to Briskoda, so please forgive me if I am repeating a previous thread. I have had my 08 plate VRS TFSI estate for around a month. All has been fine as I don't use it much, the missus uses it to do about 30 miles a week. I took it for a bit of a thrash yesterday and it went well. But as I slowed down my 'pace', I noticed it started to struggle with revs whem pulling away, and on tickover, it tended to hunt around from 500rpm to 1500.

I left it over night, then started it this morning (frosty). It would fire, then died, then i'd start it again and it would fire again, then die again. So I started it again and kept the revs up. It then settled eventually. I did the school run in it at very low revs and all seemed fine again. It has sine been to the supermarket and done the school run without missing a beat.

So, does anyone have any suggestions as to why my VRS doesn't like to be thrashed? It's done 67k and has been serviced. I know I will have to get it plugged in, but just thought I woukd ask if anyone else had had a similar problem which was remedied. Sorry this is long winded!

New plugs or coilpack needed? Is it going into limp mode?

No, no limp mode, just a lumpy engine. Would pull fine, then hesitate then go again.

A lot of people menion PCV valve for lumpy engine.  I'm not really that clued up though.
