Finding a boost leak

Featured Replies

I asked this question in my build thread, but I suspect I will get more people viewing the question here.
Basically after fitting my FMIC and GTB, I suspect I have a slight boost leak somewhere, but unsure as to where it is located.

I had an idea this afternoon, but unsure if it's advisable not to carry it out.
My idea was to fit a rubber ended blowgun inside the MAP sensor boss and pressurize the system and check every joint, pipe and core for leaks (I suspect it's the core thats at fault but would like to find out for sure)
Would this cause any damage doing it this way? Any other ways that I can test the system out?

Regards

Adam

Thats a fantastic find that cheers. Was thinking of ways to do it today, but that looks a great idea to me.

We use a smoke machine disconnect one of the pipes some where bung one end up and connect smoke machine to the other end leave it 5 mins and then have a look its makes even a pin ***** a very visable easy find

Pin p .r i . c k ^

Smoke machine idea is a good one! But it wouldn't show a leak up that only appears under boost conditions?

. It does m8 normally leaks stand out straightaway but even if it's a tiny hole that only leaks under pressure then just fill system with smoke the pressurise it and you'll see the smoke pouring out
