Torture for an OCD sufferer!

Featured Replies

Just noticed something that mildly amused me (I am a bit OCD) - the holes where the two pins to reset the mileage etc poke through the clear plastic cover of the speedo let tiny amounts of dust in.  There are now two tiny mounds of dust inside the instrument binnacle that I can't reach and clean.  They just sit there taunting me…!

Yep, definitely irritating. Also extra marks for using the word 'binnacle', not something you see enough of :)

If there are barnacles on your dash, it's getting very, very damp inside your Citigo.

is this the modern equivalent to the ashtrays are full, time to sell the car form the old MK1 escort days :) :)

And as if by magic, although I no longer have the car (and no I didn't sell it because of the dust) here's a pic of a dusty 'Binnacle' You can just make out the start of the dust build up below the right reset pin. The dust specs are all inside, not outside.  Yes I notice these things, also a bit OCD.

What also annoys me, and it's started on the Toledo now, the green algae build up on the Citigos front door window bottom rubber/cushion. Toothbrush sorts it with some shampoo and scrub.

Alloys that I can't get to the rear part to clean very well, the wheels have to be removed to do it properly.

Dirty tyres when the rest of the car is clean, tyre dressing sorts it.

Dirty engine bays, although you don't normally see them day to day, mine has to be as clean as the outside of the car.

I'll stop now before I go ga ga!

Ok then, who else is like this or do you mostly get in and drive the dam things without a care.

You think dust is bad, at least it stays still.

Wait until a fruit fly or spider gets in there!

I've got 2 of those little blighters, well flys anyway, they are stuck inside the rear light lense on my other car. Can't get at em. no way in, so how did they get in?

You can get those flies out. Ductape a garden hose to a vacuumcleaner. Then you'll easily axcess the flies inside. They will tumble around for a second and finally get sucked out.

I will sell my Citigo when the two piles of dust has build up so much I can not longer see how fast I'm driving.

Looks like I'm almost as bad as you :D I'll give it a real good clean once a month (engine, bonnet underside and all the sills as well as dash polish and a full interior vacuum)

You can do mine while you're at it [emoji106][emoji16]

LOL to everyone's replies!

Maybe we need a new area in the Citigo Forum for fellow OCD'ers to vent… (and to freely use the word 'binnacle')!?!

I can't stand dirty mats. That's why I bought fitted rubber to shake clean spray and wipe shiny.

On another forum I frequent some folk refer to the 'cockpit' or 'cabin' for their interior. I think it's wishful thinking, they are in something faster or could fly. :p

With the amount of time I spend in the car, I think "Sitting Room" is more accurate...

The worst one is the fact that (unlike the Octavia) there are no steering wheel audio controls, so whilst the radio is on the "power" symbol on the volume controls is not straight....... mocking me!

Yes, I suffered with this same problem until I worked out how to set the 'turn-on' radio volume and speed related volume adjustment setting so now my power button points north all the time.

Crank the volume up till it's straight ;)

Worse than the volume control is the three heater dials, which I like to have pointing in the same direction/angle, but that never works as its either too hot, too cold!

:nerd:

Little rubber washers pushed down the pins should solve the dust issue.

I don't like dust, I have been known to dust before I drive off, but the pointing the knobs in the same direction, I draw the line. :peek:
