can anyone offer any suggestions on a good oil to use on a 113k octavia vrs? have liked mobil 1 in past years but in much lower mileage cars..should i use fully synthetic in a higher mileage engine?? and what grade??

Ahh bit early to gauge consumption then. Id go for a good semi synth about 10w40. Quantum in the silver can is good from your local VAG dealer, and pretty cheap aswell.

ta for that..I feel an oil change coming on...and the last time I changed a paper element oil filter was on a 1950 morris oxford (I like old cars..not an old duffer!) what on earth was wrong with metal canisters?? even my wifes 3 banger polo has the paper type.
