  • Well at least you won't have as much grovelling to do with swmbo then Rob!

  • Don't need to worry about rust with those anyway didn't they have the zinc coated body panels?

Octavia is definitely faster it's the 2.2 100W KV engine. But that 5,cylinder noise!

134hp .. 20v conversion ..

I'll shutup now  :x

It would be a crime to pimp out the Audi though. Needs to stay original.

SWMBO unimpressed. Can't really afford it. Want it anyway.

There are a couple of things I want to be sure of - one is that the seats are good under the covers, another that it runs well - he says in the video he sent that he forgot the keys. He seems genuine but you never know.

Also the car is registered as a quattro GT, which is the 2.3 turbo with the wide arches not the 2.2 KV normally aspirated. Not a big deal, can be corrected, but it's a bit weird.

Keeps hinting that others have been looking at it and mentioned today I haven't given him a deposit :D

I think at the price he's asking it's unlikely that there's a huge amount of interest.

Loved our old 91 2.3 80 Coupe such a good car even when on 230k, just a shame about the mods we never took off

he says in the video he sent that he forgot the keys.

What do you mean by that?

He sent me a video of him walking around the car but he keeps the car in storage. So in the video he didn't start it because he says he forgot to take the keys to the storage unit.

Might be innocent, might not. But we'll find out Monday.

That's that then. He called me and says someone from Timaru wants it and is willing to pay $400 more than the asking price. He wanted me to get into a bidding war. Not happening it's already overpriced IMHO.

Hope I can cancel the AA check in time.

That's a shame but I don't blame you.

I used to live 1 mile away from this place, and have taken my private VAG cars there for years for servicing, repairs, MOT etc. They generally have something quite interesting in the reception area, and certainly in the workshop, whether they are completely rebuilding one or servicing one for a customer. They don't have too much for sale at the moment but have a look at the two they do have advertised just out of interest http://www.amcarsquattro.co.uk/index2.html and click on the stock list section.

something sounded a little hooky there imho

Selling a car for that pricetag, and you forget your keys ?   hhmmm ..

Real question is, has the bug to own a 'future classic' toy bitten ..

Get the right car and you can count it as an long term investment

just their Quattro A1

That would be a very nice little investment

Their focus is overpriced

Quattro Sport! You know you want to.

If you click on their 'workshop' section then the 'Porsche 911' it will show the detail they go to to produce their cars to their exceptionally high standards. It also shows a rare Fiat they restored. Their cars are not cheap but they will be absolutely spot on. Their 'photos' section also shows some interesting vehicles. http://www.amcarsquattro.co.uk/index2.html

I was struggling to find $8k. Don't they go for more like $250k?

They do sound nice, I miss my V5 sometimes, be worth a look, let you know the kind of thing that's around for the money, but I'd always be wishing it was a quattro if I had one.

Yeah true.

I will forget it. Can't really afford another car anyway. :D

You're going to need a better reason than that when you see the right car haha

I still keep thinking about this one.

Lighter and less to go wrong. No diff locks etc. Do I need a quattro one when it only has 100kW?

:D
