Well after some trouble getiing the cover note, and then visa not wanting to play ball, I have my RS.

Wasnt sure that I'd made a good colour choice. Speed of delivery seemed a higher priority. However now its here, it looks nice IMHO. Might always have a hankering for black though. The lads and lasses at work true to form have given me verbals, one even gave me a free mask to wear:D

My first big shock was the apparant lack of AM on the radio. How can a car survive without 5 Live. Still Ive read the manual now:rolleyes:

I would of also given up th e air conditioned glovebox for climate

Overall though its hard to find another car on the market that offers so much for the money, and most of the bits are just the same as in the wifes Polo.

My driving thoughts.

Been driving the wifes 1.4 Polo for the past few days since the WRX left home, so been used to the smallish car feel. Also interesting to compare chassis as hers is based on the same platform as the Fabia. The Fabia is a lot more crashie than the Polo and Compared to the WRX on roads through the town, its a lot less composed, but I guess some of that is a function of size.

Ive also had chance on some nice A roads. Feedback wise the car is better than the road testers would leave you to believe. However the worst part of the car is IMHO the seats. They look comfortable and supportive, but really do lack some side support.

I plan to enhance the power of the Fabia as well, but seriously have my doubts as to how well the car with a std suspension set up will cope. Guess there is only one way to find out though:D

Still never thought I'd see the day I'd be a Skoda owner, let alone a diesel one at that:drive1: Going to enjoy suprising a few boy racers out there:D

Very true. The Fabia vRS looks set to be more common than the (rare and exclusive) Octavia 4X4 soon - not least in black.

Only rare and exclusive as no-one in their right mind would want one

Denis - do you know how many 4x4s have actually been sold in the UK? Reason for asking was just wanting to know if they actually are that rare or if it is just not as easy to differentiate from other Octys.

Sorry to admit I don't, Stu. But in the 15 months I have owned mine I have only seen a couple of 4x4 Hatchbacks and no other 4X4 Estates other than in dealerships. L&Ks are equally rare sightings for me, unlike the vRS which really is becoming common in all its different guises...

The problem with 4x4's is that they don't have a grille badge, so I could have passed (head on) a fair few that I thought were normal Elegances but I've never known for sure.

I asked the Skoda dealer if they do a 4x4 badge in the UK or in Europe that I could order, but they stared at me blankly. I think it was a 'why would you want to do that?' kind of look. Still there's always the green 'V' badge eh FabiaTDi ?

Oh for the record, I've seen one 4x4 estate on the road (in silver)

I was told recently about 170 4x4s were sold here in Blighty.

Rob, you could always put a 4X4 turbo badge on the grille. The curvature of the existing badge on the rear matches that of the grille - I know because I have just checked to see what the badge would look like. And no, my badge is not for sale. If I ever get to sell my car, the new owner might prefer it to the current understated (Q car) 1.4 16V badge.

Pop up to deepest Fenland sometime, Denis, there are two where I live (that I'm aware of) and only one vRS (again, that I'm aware of). Lots of Fabias tho'.

Another day on the road with it. Quite impressed how chuckable the car actually is. 330d thought I was going to overtake him and wasnt too happy. Saw a large puff of smoke. I need more power

Q, you of all people should know that Q cars don't have any distinguishing badges! There is of course an exception to every rule, and in this case it is the use of the 1.4 16V badge as cover...

Sure Denis, but why a Q car, and not a P car... or a G car? There's only one Q car and its parked in front of my house :(
