1.4tsi estate or 1.6tdi estate (Dsg's)

Well I got my original 2.0 tdi Dsg estate back today as a bit of a stop gap run around Until I can get a suitable replacement. I forgot how smooth the 2 litre was and plenty torque. I also forgot it had a thirst like george best during the summer. :-(

TDIs are long distance cruisers.

Think of them as the Caravelles of cars.

My 1.6 TDi  takes 7 Kms to heat and delivers fuel efficiency when travelling more than 30 kms consequently.

Sad truth is that petrol will always be the superior fuel in every aspect just not for impoverised Europe any more..

If I'd had a choice I'd have looked for a 1.4 TSI - there are just so few available in Elegance spec. Ended up with a 1.6 TDI which is amazingly economical IF you know how to drive it. I got 67 mpg (long term avg of 60) today in miserable weather over 60 miles. You do almost have to labour the engine though. It will pull 1200rpm in fifth. At first I wouldn't do this as it felt like it was labouring but if you put up with the vibration, it will pull from this low down, even going uphill. My choice would have been a 1.4 dsg. Used to have a 150bhp VW Tiguan with the 1.4 twincharger engine shared by the Fabia VRS and that went quicker than the 2.0 TDI version.
