Slight issue

Featured Replies

Morning, i have a problem with my car starting. It will fire up first thing and run ok, but if i was to stop at a shop for example, switch the engine off then start again after a few mins it will struggle to start and when it does it idles quite high. The engine temperature gauge doesn't work so am i right in thinking the 2 could be linked to temp sensor?

There is a good chance.

Common symptoms of a failed CTS. Replace with a genuine VAG part only. Buy cheap, buy twice!

where is gonna be best to buy from? I've tried TPS in Leicester but they wont sell to me.

Take your point about the spelling, but I fitted it for him, & so far it's been ok.

Suppose it don't matter how it's spelt as long as it works! You're quite right though got to be gen, I learned that the hard way with stat and sensor recently.

Cheers will get that ordered. on a side note I need some lower bushes done on the front but bin advised to go whole wishbones while I'm there; where's best to get these? Not too bothered about polybush just need them sorted for best price.

Noticed euro car parts do a green temp sensor, anyone had experience? Getting some ball joints and bushes from there so rather buy them all together.

Get a genuine VAG part.

Yes, via TPS or Skoda

Well it's still working fine, but personally I'd still buy from TPS.

Like I've said TPS won't sell to any non trade.

TPS is a bit hit & miss, some branches are ok with selling to the public, some aren't.

I paid £39.16 for mine including o ring from skoda

Any alternative to buying from skoda or tps

Just get it bought and stop mincing!

Not that I could find. My nearest TPS won't supply to me either so I got it from Skoda along with a new rubber seal and plastic U clip. Didn't seem to be anything wrong with my old one (it was the thermostat in the end) so I could sell it to you but to be honest for the peace of mind I would just get a new one from Skoda. Most dealers I've been to have given me 10% off parts by telling them I'm a member on here and asking nicely.

Ah ok will go down to my local skoda dealer then. Will they most likely have the item in stock? how much did you pay?

Even if it's not in stock it will be there by the next day

They had to order it in but they usually get it the next day. It cost £33.09 (before 10% discount) and the part number is 059919501A. The seal & plastic U clip weren't much extra.

Edit: By the way you should be able to get the same part from a VW/Audi/Seat dealer if you have one nearer than Skoda. Not sure if they'll try and charge you a different price though!

Does anyone have a picture of where the coolant sensor actually is? Fitting this morning and struggling to see it?
