Potential Fabia vRS owner

Featured Replies

Greetings everyone,

I've never even seen one but I want one. I was totally under whelmed by the Skoda tv advert and did a google search on Fabia vRS and found one hell of a car! I eventually came across Briskoda and your passion for the Fabia delivered the knock out blow. So I'm off to my dealer to take a look so I'd be grateful if you can give me some help.

Am I likely to pay the RRP of

Ahhhhh. Welcome

The way I look at buying a new car whilst trading in is the "cost to change". Some dealers will give you a stonking good discount on the new car but a mediocre trade-in price on your old one. Others will give you a really good price for you heap-o-metal, but no discount. Either way, it's the cost to change that matters.

Some dealers appear to discount more than others, but I think it's more up to how well they're doing at a certain point in time. If you catch them at the end of a bad month, they'll probably discount more than at the beginning of a new reg. It's worth phoning around to see what various local dealers have on offer.

In my experience, I would go for the xenons. I had them on my first fabia and really miss them on my current fabia. Cruise control is retro-fittable. I wouldn't bother with a Skoda CD changer. If you want more music capacity, you can change the Head unit for one which takes MP3s for less money than the factory changer.

As for colour choice, you're about to stir a hornet's nest :P Black looks really good and super smart when clean. It hardly stays clean for long though :( Silver is nice and more of a neutral colour. Does show up the front bumper a bit better too. It sounds as if you've dismissed red and yellow as options.

Where are you based Ray? Some Briskodians may offer to meet up and show you theirs. If you're anywhere near Berkshire, I'd be happy to show you mine, although it's hardly "standard" :D

Happy hunting and welcome again :D

ssssshhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!...........needs to be yellow :peepwall: And hello :D

Hi.

To get the best price for mine I started with www.broadspeed.com - this is where TopGear mag got their best price from. I was offered one from them at a SUBSTANTIAL discount from list. I then tried a couple of dealers direct, before finally going to www.whatcar.co.uk. They have a Target Price on there and a guarantee that if your dealer wont match it, they'll point you to one that will.

My local dealer couldn't get anywhere near it, so I ended up going with one 60 miles away. Worth the effort for the 10% saving over list. It took just two weeks from order to collection - though I had no options other than colour.

REMEMBER: silver and black colour options are metallic and pearlescent respectively, so expect to pay

Most dealers are open to haggling. I'd say about

I'm confused by all this talk of black being harder to keep clean. With black the back end doesn't show the soot so much. I've followed several red's and yellow's that look awful covered in soot.

I would get cruise from the factory, it'll work out cheaper. Xenons are nice but an expensive luxury. I wouldn't bother with the changer TBH.
